Term 2 Meeting 1 – Reminder

The countdown is on now for our tour, with our first meeting coming up next tuesday (see details below):

Term 2 Meeting 1:
  • Week 2 Tuesday  (6th May)
  • 3:45 to 4:30
  • Community Room

Just a reminder that your lesson plans must be scanned and emailed to me ASAP as we will be there will be an opportunity to create resources and/or practice your activities in this meeting so the plans must be completed before then.

If you have any questions, please ask any of the tour staff.

Term 2 Meeting Times (LOCATION UPDATE)

Please find the dates below for the meetings next term. All will take place at the Duncraig Campus.

Term 2 Meeting 1:

  • Week 5 Tuesday (27th May)
  • 3:45 to 4:30
  • Library Reading Room 1
Term 2 Parent Evening (Q and A for parents prior to tour)
  • Week 7 Tuesday (10th June)
  • 3:45 to 4:15 (quick meeting)
  • 4:15 to 5pm (parent evening)
  • Science forum/seminar room

Tour Update – Important info before term 2

Good afternoon everyone,

It is almost the end of Term 1, so the countdown is on for our Indonesian Tour!
Please read all of the points below and ask any questions you may have.

  • You MUST be reviewing your Indonesian basics, download the word document below and practice these words. We will be moving on from these next term.

  • ALL passports must be scanned and sent to myself (Mr Johnstone) ASAP. We currently missing passports from the following students:
    • Luke Povey
    • Lucy Elderfield
    • Daniella McGregor-Bayne
  • Congratulations to all who have completed their fundraising. If you have raised your $500, please submit your fundraising in cash to the Administration building. If you let them know it is for the Indonesian/Bali tour, they will pass it on to the accounts team.
    • We would like ALL fundraising to be completed and submitted by the end of Week 3 Term 2 (May 16th). If you are struggling to make this deadline please see one of the tour staff.
  • Lesson Plans must be scanned and sent in to Mr Johnstone before Term 2 starts. There will be an opportunity to create resources and/or practice your activities in the first meeting next term, so the plans must be completed before then.
    • Bali Life Activity Lesson Plan
    • Your activities will be run with small groups of 3-5 Bali Life kids at a time, and this will be repeated multiple times over two days.
    • Plan to deliver the activity at least 6 times over the two days (30 kids total).

Keep an eye out on the blog for the term 2 meeting dates. These are compulsory, so if you work or have sporting commitments on these afternoons, please do your best to be excused from those.

We will also have a parent question evening a few weeks prior to the tour, so please keep an eye out for these details once finalised.

In the meantime, please see or email any tour staff should you have any questions.

Passport Details

Morning all,

The travel agent requires passport details of everyone on the tour. They need to be forwarded to the airline to enable tickets to be released. If you have not yet provided Mr Johnstone with your passport details, could you do so as soon as possible.

Fundraising Opportunity

I have received an email from Mitre10 at Hillarys and they have offered us some places for their sausage sizzles. I thought some of you might be interested in taking up this opportunity towards the tour. Please see the details below.

Next Meeting: Wednesday 26th March (Week 9)

Good afternoon team,

Our next meeting will be held on the 26th March, which is the Wednesday of Week 9. Please find some key points below:

  • Pop Quiz on Indonesian basics (words from last meeting)
  • Fundraising -> Get onto it and send through how much you have raised to Mrs Maddock
  • Packing list -> we will go through this so you know if you need to buy anything else.
  • Activities -> We will have allocated time to finalise any plans for actvities. The resources needed for the activities must be finished by our first meeting next term.
  • Prior to meeting:
    • Have draft or ideas of activities ready to go with your team members (Suwung + Bali Life)
    • Have passport scanned and sent through to Mr Johnstone (so far only 4 have done so)

Fundraising and Meetings for Bali Tour

Morning all,

Hope all is well with our team.

Tour staff met last week to discuss planning for the upcoming tour. Could you please send Mrs Maddock the total amount of fundraising that you have completed to date, as well as upcoming plans of your fundraising. There will be a cut-off date for all funds to be submitted to enable us to effectively remit it to Bali Life Foundation and Akademi Kristus before we depart. It is a requirement of the tour that the $500 minimum be raised.

Shortly you will be advised of the next meeting date. Can I please remind you that attendance at these meetings is compulsory to enable you to prepare for the tour as a team.
