Loud Shirt Day

Teach, Speak, Hear would like to thank the St. Stephen’s School Community for supporting Loud Shirt Day on 18 October 2024. The joint effort from the primary and secondary schools raised $593! Thank you for supporting students with hearing loss to reach their full potential. Congratulations also to 6C who won the primary school Loud Shirt Design competition.

2024 Book Fair

St Stephen’s Recipe Book and Tea Towel Fundraiser – Sales will end Thursday 31 October

As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations we are proud to launch the St Stephen’s School Carramar 2024 Recipe Book and a series of special edition tea towels!

The Recipe Book brings together a collection of our St Stephen’s Carramar family favourite recipes and can be yours for a donation of $20!

The tea towels showcase a sample of each child’s artwork on a premium tea towel, with each class from Pre-Primary to Year 6 having their own bespoke designs! You can get yours for a donation of $20 or $15 each when you buy two or more across the range!


All funds will go towards our parent-run, end of year event – Night on the Green on Saturday 16 November.


Sales will end on 31 October so order now to avoid disappointment! Purchases will be delivered to your nominated child’s class.

Jump Rope for Heart 2024

Jump Rope for Heart is back for 2024! Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 37 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs. Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.

It’s important you register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents

Students will be practicing their skipping at school and home, and during this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause. The fundraising program will be finishing on Friday 8 November (Week 5, T4).

Please join us to celebrate all that our students have accomplished in 2024. Bookings are essential but tickets are all free of charge. All attendees, including guests, staff, awardees and performers must book a ticket. Term 4 Running Club

All students in Kindy to Year 6 and their families are encouraged to join Miss Uglow, Mrs Bartels and Mr Simms on the Primary Green every Thursday morning to run as many laps around the Green as you can! No matter what your ability is, come on down to earn House points, improve your fitness, build your confidence and run your way towards a healthier lifestyle. Each participating individual will be given their own Running Club lapathon card to count their laps every week. Runners will earn 1 Running Club House Point for every lap they complete around the Primary Green. Running Club lapathon cards must be left in our year group bags at the end of each session.

We will meet on the Primary Green every THURSDAY morning from 8.00am – 8.25am. Everyone is welcome – you do not need to sign up to participate in this club. Run at your own pace and come and go as you please. Parents/guardians and younger siblings are encouraged to join in too.

Students – come dressed in your sport uniform or normal school uniform and running shoes. Students who do not have PE on a Thursday will need to change into their formal school uniform/shoes after running club.

Students are supplied with a list of essential items and texts which are to be purchased for school. This is handled by Campion Education WA.

Please note that items ticked as “Compulsory Subscriptions” need to be purchased directly from Campion.

We are very mindful that returning to school for a new academic year can be an expensive cost to families, and therefore our staff have made a conscious effort to keep the cost to a minimum.

Date of delivery is the week ending Friday 6 December  (only for orders placed prior to the cut-off date).

The online ordering dates for Primary and Secondary School are different.

Secondary School lists will open on Friday 8 November.

  • Set up will be between 2pm-4pm
  • Pack away must be completed by 9pm

  • Stallholders must bring all equipment for their set up and for receiving payments.
  • 3mx3m allocation of space- please bring own gazebo, table and chairs.

  • Please note that young entrepreneurs will not be able to sell food items due to food safety rules.

Term 4, Week 2

Music Festivities in Week 2  

Western Australian Symphony Orchestra – Thursday 17th October 

We are lucky to have the prestigious Western Australian Symphony Orchestra coming to visit us on Thursday the 17th October at 11:30am. Led by educator and multi-percussionist, Genevieve Wilkins, The Musical Tale of Echo the Gecko includes WASO’s 10-piece orchestra and is an engaging and educational introduction to orchestral music. Students from Pre-Primary to Year 5 will enjoy an interactive performance learning about the orchestra and their instruments.

Primary Music Assembly – Friday 18 October 

We are going to have a celebration of music! The process of music, the way it can make you feel, the sense of achievement it can give you and the journey it can take you on. We will have performances from the Junior String Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Rock, Concert and Jazz Bands. The assembly will be interactive where every student will have the opportunity to sing and join in the fun music festivities. Everyone is welcome to attend, starting at 2:40pm in the forum.

This year, Loud Shirt Day will take place at St Stephens Carramar in Week 2, on Friday 18 October. This day provides our school community with a fantastic opportunity to get loud and show our support for children who are deaf and hard of hearing around Australia.Please show your support by wearing your brightest shirt and donating a gold coin on the day. Year 3 – 6 Primary Champion Schools Cross Country – Rescheduled Opportunity

After the cancellation of the Year 3 – 6 Primary Champion Schools Cross Country Carnival that was due to take place on Thursday 1 August (cancelled due to severe weather warnings), the event has now been rescheduled to Friday 25 October (Week 3, Term 4).

Children’s University

Graduation is fast approaching, and this week is the last week for recording hours that qualify for the 2024 graduation.  Any hours accrued after this week will count towards graduation in 2025.  With that in mind, if CU students can bring their passports and qualifying evidence to me in the Primary forum from 8.15am on Thursday 10 October.

I look forward to seeing what learning happened over the holidays!

 

Term 4 After School Clubs

Term 4 After School Clubs will be starting next week! This term we are offering 3 clubs, After School Sports, Art Club and Craft Club. Clubs will run until Week 7.

Bookings will be available from 6.00pm this Friday 11 October.

Remember to only register your child for activities available to their year group and only one club per child so that all students have an opportunity to join a club.

The due date for Issue 7 Scholastic Book Club orders (final for 2024) is Wednesday 23 October.

 

Primary Champion Schools Track and Field Twilight Carnival Opportunity

Following our participation in the NIPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival last term, Year 4 – 6 winners and high achievers in the relevant track and field events are invited to participate in the upcoming Year 4 – 6 Champion Schools Track and Field Twilight Carnival.

The Champion Schools Track & Field Twilight Carnival will take place at the UWA Little Athletics (McGillvray Road, Mt Claremont) on Friday October 25 commencing at 5pm.

Please follow the link below if your child is interested in participating in the event. You will need to register your child and attend the event with them. Students who participate will  be provided with a St Stephen’s School running shirt to wear for the event. The cost is $10.00 per event your child participates in. There is also a 1500m event for any students who might be interested.
