Term 4, Week 7

A Wonderful Few Weeks Ahead!

As we approach the end of the year, we have an exciting couple of weeks filled with opportunities to celebrate the achievements, growth and spirit of our students. These events are not just milestones, they are moments that reflect the hard work, resilience and participation of every child in the life of our school community.

From Presentation Night to the Nativity performance, the Year 6 Primary Graduation and the joyful class celebrations in the final week, each occasion is a chance to come together and acknowledge the effort and enthusiasm our students have shown throughout the year.

Our celebrations will conclude with the Fun Rainbow Run on the very last day, a vibrant and energetic way to finish the year on a high note!

It’s important to remember that these events are about more than awards or recognition. They are about celebrating every student’s contribution, whether big or small and the sense of belonging that makes our school community so special. Every child has played a part in shaping this year and these moments allow us to honour that collective effort.

We encourage all families to join us in these celebrations, supporting not only your own child but also their peers. Together, we create an environment where every student feels valued and proud of their journey.

Thank you for being part of this wonderful community. Let’s make these final weeks memorable for all!

Languages Week Celebrations

On Wednesday, 26 November, Primary students will have the opportunity to purchase a French pastry or biscuit from the canteen during recess. Each item will cost approximately $1.00. Students who wish to participate should bring cash. This is a wonderful chance for students to celebrate diverse cultures and cuisines while enjoying a taste of French food.

FIRST LEGO League Celebration: Fossil Force Wins Engineering Excellence Award!

We are thrilled to announce that during last Friday’s FIRST LEGO League Competition, our team, Fossil Force achieved an incredible milestone by winning the Engineering Excellence Award!

This award recognizes a team that demonstrates:

  • An efficiently designed robot
  • An innovative project solution that effectively addresses the season’s challenge
  • Strong core values evident in everything they do

Fossil Force impressed the judges with their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Their achievement is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our students.

Even more exciting, Fossil Force has qualified for the next stage of the competition and will be competing on 13 December! We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.

Congratulations to Fossil Force! We are incredibly proud of your dedication and the outstanding way you represented our school community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Crouch and Mr Simms for their guidance and support throughout the competition and for all the preparation that helped our students succeed.

Farewell and New Beginnings

As the year draws to a close, we share some bittersweet news. Our wonderful Physical Education teacher, Miss Nicol, will be leaving us. Her energy and enthusiasm have brought vibrancy to our school and we thank her for her dedication. We wish her all the best as she embarks on an exciting travel adventure.

We also say goodbye to our talented French teacher, Madame Thomas, who is moving on to teach in a secondary school setting. Her passion and joie de vivre have enriched our classrooms and we are grateful for all she has contributed.

Looking ahead, we are delighted to welcome Madame Branch as our new French teacher and Miss Jones as our new Physical Education teacher. We’re thrilled to welcome their enthusiasm and the unique strengths they’ll share with our students.

Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate these transitions.

Warm regards

Madame Pilote and Mrs Langley

Children’s University

I am looking forward to the graduation even this Wednesday evening at ECU, Joondalup.  If you are one of our graduating students, please remember to wear your formal summer uniform (white shirts for everyone please).  Please arrive at ECU from 4.00pm to allow time to find your graduation regalia and have some great photo opportunities before entering the theatre for seating and instructions. Guests will be invited in before the ceremony which will start at 5.00pm.  There will be light refreshments following the ceremony.

We can also continue to look forward to next year’s graduation event and continue to accrue hours in your passport.  I have attached a booklet on Codes of Football where you can earn up to 5 hours by completing all the activities.  Do it this weekend or save it for something to do in the holidays.

Wrapping up 2025 with colour and celebration!

By popular demand and to finish the year on a high, we will be holding a Final Assembly at approximately 10.30am in the Primary Forum, followed by a Fun Rainbow Run on The Green at around 11.00am on Friday 5 December. All parents are warmly invited to join us!

Key Details:

  • Kindy students will be dismissed at 11:00am. Parents are welcome to accompany their child and join in the Fun Rainbow Run on The Green.
  • Pre-Primary to Year 6 students will be dismissed at 12.00pm. They will remain under the supervision of their classroom teachers until dismissal; however, parents are warmly invited to stay and enjoy the excitement of our Fun Rainbow Run following the Assembly!
  • Safety Note: We strongly encourage students to wear swimming goggles or glasses to protect their eyes. Staff will always endeavour to aim the powder from the waist down, but as this is a busy activity, we would rather play it safe.

It promises to be a fantastic way to wrap up our 2025 academic year! We recommend families bring a few spare garbage bags to protect car seats… students are sure to be a little messy after their run!

We look forward to celebrating this special day with you and ending the year with joy and community spirit!

Term 4, Week 6

As we prepare for the festive season, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of decorations, gifts, and celebrations. Yet Christmas is so much more; it is one of the most significant events in our Christian calendar, a time to reflect on faith, hope, and love.

This season reminds us of the importance of giving, especially to those who may not have as much or are less privileged. Through our Christmas Appeal, we aim to bring a little joy to families in need by collecting food items that will make their celebrations brighter.

How you can help:

  • Please send all food donations to your child’s classroom for collection.
  • The closing date for contributions is Monday, 1st December.
  • Food item allocations have been shared with each year level to ensure a variety of goods for families.

We are deeply grateful for your support in this initiative. Every contribution makes a difference and helps us share the true spirit of Christmas; compassion and generosity.

We kindly ask for your help in reminding our children that Christmas is not only about receiving but also about giving and caring for others. Together, we can make this season meaningful for everyone.

Thank you for partnering with us to spread joy and kindness this Christmas.

Children’s University

Children’s University has posted the following challenge for November:

This Challenge is brought to you by CU member Abby and she’s challenging you to create a summer discovery plan.

Summer is full of fun and exciting things to do! In this activity, you’ll choose five things you’d love to try during the summer holidays. Then, you’ll explore your local area to find out where and how you can do them. You’ll plan for each activity and learn more about what’s around you. You might even discover a Children’s University Learning Destination to visit!

Complete your plan to earn 1 hour in your Passport.

This challenge has three parts:

Dream It – Choose your five

Pick five activities you’d really love to do during the holidays. These can be big or small, anything from going swimming to learning something new. For example, you could have a picnic, visit a museum, learn to cook something or try a new sport.

Discover It – Find out what’s in your community

For each activity on your list, try to find a local place or event where you could do it.
With your family’s permission, you can use the internet or ask a friend or family member to help you look. For example, if you want to visit a museum, you might go to the Victor Harbor National Trust Museum.

Plan It – Create your summer plan

Make a simple plan for each activity. You can use a table or draw a map to show your plan for each activity and bring it in to show me.

Think about:
• Where will you go?
• When could you do it?
• What will you need?
• Who might come with you?

Be creative and have fun planning!

Term 4, Week 5

Last week was truly a celebration of creativity and talent as we immersed ourselves in The Arts! From the vibrant Kambarang Musical Showcase to the engaging Year 3 Drama and Music Afternoon, and the stunning Fusion Exhibition featuring Visual Art and Design & Technology, our students shone in every way.

The incredible creativity, dedication and courage displayed by our students were inspiring. Each performance and artwork reflected not only their talent but also the hours of practice and passion behind the scenes.

Research consistently shows that participation in the Arts plays a vital role in students’ development, boosting confidence, fostering creativity, and enhancing academic achievement through improved problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The Arts also nurture emotional wellbeing and help students express themselves in meaningful ways.

We are deeply grateful to our specialist teachers in Music, Drama and Visual Art, whose expertise and commitment guide and support our students to reach their full potential. Their encouragement and vision make these experiences possible and memorable.

Thank you to our families for joining us in celebrating this special week. Together, we witnessed the power of the Arts in shaping confident, creative and resilient learners.

🎶 Enrol Now for the 2026 Instrumental Tuition Program! 🎶

St Stephen’s School is proud to offer a comprehensive Instrumental Music Program for students from Year 1 to Year 12.

Whether your child is continuing their musical journey or just starting out, this program provides a wonderful opportunity to learn from experienced Instrumental Music Tutors, with lessons held during school hours on school premises.

🧠 Why Music Matters

Research by Dr Anita Collins, a leading Australian educator and neuroscientist, shows that learning a musical instrument is one of the most powerful ways to support brain development in children. It strengthens memory, boosts language and literacy skills, enhances coordination, and improves focus and emotional regulation, all while being incredibly fun and rewarding!

Lesson times are scheduled into the school day, and vary from week to week to ensure students aren’t missing the same class, helping them balance their academic and musical development.

🎺🎹🎻 Instruments offered include:

  • Piano
  • Orchestral Percussion
  • Guitar
  • Bass Guitar
  • Voice
  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Violin
  • Viola
  • Double Bass

Please note: As this program is optional, fees are charged in addition to the standard School Fees.

Year Level Programs
Students in Year 3 and Year 5 have the opportunity to participate in their year level instrumental programs, which offer free small-group tuition:

  • 🎻 Year 3s learn a string instrument (violin, viola, or cello) for at least one term.
  • 🎷 Year 5s can apply to learn a woodwind or brass instrument (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or orchestral percussion) for one semester.

Term 4, Week 4

As we prepare to welcome new students to our school this Friday for Orientation Day, we find ourselves reflecting on the significance of this moment, not just for those joining us, but for all our students.

Change, while sometimes accompanied by a touch of nervousness, is a natural and essential part of life. It brings growth, new perspectives, and opportunities to build resilience. We know that many of our students may feel a little anxious about meeting new peers or stepping into unfamiliar spaces, and that’s perfectly okay. What matters most is how we approach change, with positivity, openness, and maturity.

At St Stephen’s School, we believe that the way we respond to change helps shape the kind of people our students become. When we model excitement, curiosity, and kindness, we empower young people to do the same. This Friday, we have the joy of welcoming many new students from other schools into our community. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our current students to show leadership, empathy, and one of our most cherished core values: Care.

Being welcoming, inclusive, and thoughtful toward others, especially those who are new, is a powerful way to live out this value. We encourage our students to see this day not just as a celebration, but as a chance to make new friends, offer a smile, and help someone feel at home.

We are so proud of the way our students rise to these moments with grace and generosity. Thank you for supporting them in embracing change with courage and compassion.

We are very mindful that returning to school for a new academic year can be an expensive cost to families and therefore our staff have made a conscious effort to keep the cost to a minimum.

Date of delivery is the week ending Friday 23 January 2026  (only for orders placed prior to the cut-off date).

PLEASE NOTE: The online ordering dates for Primary and Secondary School are different. Secondary School lists will open on Friday 7 November.
