Term 1, Week 10

Thank you for an amazing Term 1!

We can’t believe that we have already come to the end of another “jam packed term”! Time flies when you are having fun! To add to the many teaching and learning opportunities experienced in class this term, our students also took part in Swimming Carnivals, incursions, excursions, special days such as Kindness Day, Grand-Parents’ Day and Olden Day, visits to High School, NAPLAN, Buddy Sessions, Crazy Hair Day, Easter celebrations, the list goes on and on! These valuable learning experiences enriched our students’ school journey throughout the term and as we pause and reflect, we realise how different Term 1 2023 has been in comparison to last year’s Term 1. We are extremely grateful to have been able to provide so many wonderful opportunities to our students this year and look forward to another amazing term in Term 2.

A friendly reminder that school will resume on Thursday 27 April for our students. We finally take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Blessed Easter and a restful and re-energising holiday break.

Sincerely yours

The Primary Leadership Team

Crazy Hair Day Success

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have raised an outstanding $460 which will be donated to the Smith Family https://www.thesmithfamily.com.au/

Term 1 Running Club

All students in Kindy to Year 6 and their families are encouraged to join Miss Uglow on the Primary Green every Thursday morning to run as many laps around the Green as you can! No matter what your ability is, come on down to earn House points, improve your fitness, build your confidence and run your way towards a healthier lifestyle.

Each participating individual will be given their own Running Club lapathon card to count their laps every week. Runners will earn 1 Running Club House Point for every lap they complete around the Primary Green. Running Club lapathon cards must be left with Miss Uglow at the end of each session. You will use the same running club card each week unless you have reached 100 laps… after that you will need a new one!

We will meet on the Primary Green every THURSDAY morning from 8.00am – 8.25am. Come dressed in your sport uniform or normal school uniform and running shoes. You can still participate even if you are not dressed in your sport uniform! Everyone is welcome – you do not need to sign up to participate in this club. Run at your own pace and come and go as you please. Parents/guardians and younger siblings are encouraged to join in too.

Please join us for our final Running Club session of Term 1 next Thursday 6 April! We hope to see everyone there 😊

Are you able to help?

Do you have a recorder lying around home that you no longer use?

We would love to take it off your hands!

Early next term a teacher is travelling to South Africa and will be visiting a school that is needing help with their Music program. They are looking for recorder donations.

If you can help, please drop your recorder donations to the Reception Office before the end of this term.

Children’s University

During the school holidays why don’t you try some of these Harmony day activities that are on the CU portal?  Each is worth 30 minutes of learning in your passport.

  • Learn how to say ‘hello’ is seven languages.  Write them down to show me or tell me at the next passport signing session.
  • Bake a cake – the harmonious mixing of ingredients – take a photo to show me.
  • Choose an Australian artist and find out what techniques they use from different cultures – write down what you discover.
  • Create a Harmony Day poster – maybe you could use some of the artists techniques you learnt about if you did the previous activity too – come show me your finished poster.
  • Plan a meal for your family – are these dishes from your cultural background? Or a different one? – make me hungry by showing me your menu.  A bonus one hour learning if you do more than plan the meal and cook it to – remember to take photo or get a family member to write a food review.
  • Go for a walk in a town that you visit in the holidays (it could be Joondalup) – have the design features been inspired by other cultures?  Which was your favourite and why?  Take a photo or write it down to show me.

Parents should have received the student log in details for the CU portal and some information on how to use and explore the portal via email yesterday.  Passports will be delivered to new students in the program by the end of the week.

Next passport signing session will be 8.15am Tuesday 2 May in the primary forum.  Remember to bring your passport and the evidence of all the learning you have done.
