There have been a number of discussions around potential plans for what a student’s day might look like at home.  While you can certainly develop your own schedule for what suits your family, we thought it might be helpful to send through one simple example that you might chose to follow.

Considering the current climate and our School’s approach to being proactive in the care of our students and our community, we are making the prudent decision to postpone this event with the intention of rescheduling later in the year. I will be in touch with more information when we know it is safe to proceed.

Thank you

GALA POSTPONED – NEW DATE!

To protect our community and to be able to present the St Stephen’s School Foundation’s Gala as the full spectacle that has been planned – amid the Government’s ban of indoor events over 100 people for the time being – we have had to postpone the highly-anticipated event until later in the year.

We are excited to announce the new date for the Gala on November 7 at Crown Perth. We hope you are still able to celebrate with us. It is set to be a great evening of food, drinks, entertainment and exciting announcements. See https://www.trybooking.com/BHKWP for more.

COVID-19 – A guide for parents

As this virus is the topic of so much conversation recently, we understand that it is something that your children might have questions about at home. This video was recently shared with us and we thought it might be helpful as you discuss this with your children.

Self Isolating Families.

Several members of our School community have now opted to self-isolate for a number of different reasons. As outlined by the Prime Minister in his address yesterday evening, this is now an option to all parents. As a school, we will be remaining open and providing teaching and learning until such time that we are directed to close by the Western Australia Premier, The Department of Education or The Department of Health. Whilst the school remains open, our staff are not expected to offer  both in-class learning and a similar level of online learning. We understand that children who are in isolation need to continue with their learning. As such, we will be sending an email each week to those families that are self-isolating. It will provide activities for you to do at home. These activities will replicate some of the activities that are happening in the classroom. Further information about concepts being taught in class can be obtained through the term overview which is on your class blog.  The Department of Education has also provided a ‘Learning at Home’ website with a number of resources and activities available. https://www.education.wa.edu.au/learning-at-home

If you are self-isolating and need assistance or help with an activity or task please contact your class teacher. Please be aware during the day time class teachers will be working with students in their classroom and may need time to answer emails.

Parents please be mindful not to enter classrooms in the mornings as we allow our students to be more self-reliant and avoid unnecessary times of close contact.

ELC Traffic

Dear Parents,

As we start the new school year, it is important to review the drop off and collection of our students at the ELC. Over the past couple of weeks, several parents have been parking in the Kiss and Drive area of the ELC during peak times. This has caused problems for other parents that are trying to drop their children off. Please, at no time during the hours of 8.15 – 8.45 and 3.20 -3.45 leave your car unattended in this space. If you need to come into the school or assist your child, you should not use the Kiss and Drive lane.

When you are using the Kiss and Drive lane to collect your child, please ensure you have a sign with your child’s name and class visible. Unfortunately, if you come out of your vehicle this slows down the movement and flow of traffic. If your child still needs support in securing themselves safely, do not use the kiss and drive lane. Please park and collect your child. Parking spaces are available opposite Kindy and Pre Primary play areas and surrounding the oval. Parking is not permitted on any of the paved walkways. Several vehicles have been parking by the Kindy side entrance gate which has limited access for students and families in using this entry point. Walkways must remain clear for students to safely walk around the ELC. Please do not park by the bins as this area has to be kept free. Vehicles parked here can impact the flow of traffic and make it difficult for vehicles to pass through easily.

Thank you for keeping our children and our community safe and for assisting us with the smooth flow of traffic through our school.

Coffee and Chat with Mr Steven at the ELC tomorrow

Mr Steven will be running another Biblical Studies Coffee and Chat morning, this time at the ELC on Tuesday 10 March between 8.45 – 9.45am in the ELC Staff room. Please feel free to come along for an interesting chat about themes we will be covering at K-6 Worship Gatherings and information about Biblical Studies lessons. This is a very informal and relaxed event so please come along to find out how we are supporting you in your endeavour to raise resilient and happy children. Questions are most welcome – all K-12 parents welcome.
