Term 3 – Notices – Week 2

Dear Families,

The term has started well with the students and teachers settling back into School routines enjoying being back together. We have quite a few notices on this week’s blog, so please take the time to read through each notice so you are aware of what is happening across the Primary School in the coming weeks.

The Week Ahead:-

Thursday 5 August

  • PP Ambulance Visit 9 -11am
  • Constable Care Year 1 & Year 2

Friday 6 August

  • ELC Worship (Kindy & PP) Parents of these classes are welcome to come and join us for a fun-packed, interactive Worship session with Mr Steven.
  • 3-6 4M are presenting their class assembly. Parents are welcome to come and watch.

Book Week Parade 2021

This year the Library Team have changed the way in which the Book Week parades across the School take place. There have been several requests from parents for the opportunity of our younger students to see the older students parade. As such, the first parade will now take place at 3-6. ELC students who have older siblings are invited to join their parents and watch the older students parade and then come to the ELC.

Year 2 Transition dates.

Our Year 2 students will be starting their transition program this term. Over this semester the Year 2 students will start to transition to Year 3. To help students familiarise themselves with the 3-6 space and staff, we have planned a series of sessions for them to attend.  Year 2 parents, please be aware of the dates where your child will need to be dropped at 3-6 rather than the ELC. If you have any questions regarding the transition events, please contact your classroom teachers.

Term 3:

  • Week 3 (Monday, 9 August) Worship @ 8:45am Year 2 students to be dropped off at the Primary School (3-6) for the start of the day (8:30am). Following worship, there will be a tour of the 3-6 space. The students will then stay for a play in the playground, eat their Crunch and Sip then walk back to the ELC. Year 2 parents are invited to stay for Worship. There will be a separate parent tour after worship with an opportunity for you to ask any questions or queries you may have regarding your child’s transition or the Primary School routines.

  • Week 4 (Friday, 20 August) Aladdin Dress Rehearsal @ 12:30pm  Year 2 students will walk across to the Primary School to watch the Dress Rehearsal of Aladdin. They will need to be collected from this location, not the ELC, at the end of the day.
  • Week 6 (Thursday, 2 September) Sport and Music @ 8:45am Year 2 students to be dropped at Primary at start of the day (8:30am). Students will have their Sport and Music classes with Mr Parker and Mrs Thorne at the Primary School (3-6). After their lessons, they will eat their Crunch and Sip, before returning to ELC at 10:15am.

Term 4:

  • Week 6 (Friday, 26 November) Orientation Day  Year 2 students to be dropped off at Primary at start of the day (8:30am). The children will spend the whole day at the Primary School and will need to be collected from this location, not the ELC, at the end of the day.

We wish you a wonderful week ahead and look forward to seeing you around the school.

Athletics Training – Friday mornings 7:45am to 8:15am, Term 3

There are two athletics carnival dates – Tuesday 7 September for  jumps, throws and 800m – Friday 10 September for sprints and team games

I would like to offer interested students the opportunity to practice shot put, long jump and turbo javelin on Friday mornings this term in lead up to the athletics carnival. Any parents that have expertise or even familiarity in these events, I would love some help. Please email me at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au if you are able to help. Students will not need to sign up to attend. If the weather is very wet(like possibly this week), then the session will not go ahead.

Mrs Baird and Mrs Senior will be holding sprint focused training sessions on Thursday mornings in preparation for the athletics carnival.

Athletics Carnival – CHANGE OF DATE – now Wednesday 8 Sept. and Friday 10 Sept.

Due to the need for High School student helpers, our scheduled jumps and throws competition day has been moved from the Tuesday to Wednesday 8 September. The Friday date for our sprints and team games will remain on the Friday.

Wednesday 8 September – jumps, throws, 800m

Friday 10 September – sprints, team games

Parents can you please read below in preparation for the two day carnival.

1. Please notify me at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au if you are able to help with the Wednesday jumps and throws (I NEED MANY PARENT HELPERS FOR THIS EVENT ALONG WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS). Help would simply involve measuring with the aid of high school students and a class teacher. There are two sessions – session 1 from 8:35am to 10:40am and session 2 from 11am to 1pm. You can volunteer for one session or both sessions. It will be possible for you to disappear for a moment so that you can witness your child’s efforts in another event. PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU CAN ONLY DO ONE SESSION OR IF YOU CAN DO BOTH.

2. Please notify me at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au if your child is unable to participate on the Friday sprints and team games day. I am currently trying to create the program and it will save me significant time if I am made aware of any students that will not be participating. Bearing in mind that this is a compulsory event.

*further information will be released once the program is completed
