SSS Alumni Exhibition

This event is aimed towards SSS Alumni who have continued their own art practice out of school and are producing work. We hope to give these artists a platform to showcase their work across different industries. We are also encouraging past Arts staff to participate in the exhibition.

We hope to touch base with as many past students and staff as possible. Please contact Tessa Dorich at the school if the following interests you:

So far, students have done the following:

The Year 11 and 12 Curriculum Handbook is available in the Parent Portal and SEQTA on the Documents page. • Visits to Tertiary Institutions during LIFT Week in the last week of term
  • The Semester 1 report
  • Student/Parent/Teacher Interviews for Year 10 students on Monday 1 August
  • All Year 10 students have an individual subject counselling interview at the beginning of Term 3 where we will enter final subject preferences. If someone has not met the prerequisite for a particular course, then they must speak with the Head of Learning Area about this prior to this meeting

So, please come along to our Information Evening on 20 June to find out more. If any changes to the event are required we will email and place information in the Secondary Newsletter. Students Missing Assessments Due to Illness

As outlined in our Principal’s communication to families on 4 May, families should now be using normal absentee notification procedures via phone or email. More details can be found on the Portal here: https://portal.ststephens.wa.edu.au/parent-and-student/plan-the-day/absentee-info.html.

For students who may be missing assessments, including Examinations and EST’s, the Assessment Policy requires medical documentation of the reasons for absence due to illness. This is usually a medical certificate. In the case of COVID-19 it is either: your child’s message from the WA Health Department confirming registration of the positive RAT result or confirmation of the positive PCR test result, or a doctor’s letter confirming the COVID-19 diagnosis and the date of infection. Please send this to ABSENTEESDUNCRAIG@ststephens.wa.edu.au as usual.

Absentees will advise teaching staff of medical documentation provided. Students should email their teacher if they are missing any assessment because the follow up procedure depends on the circumstances. Wherever possible, teaching staff or our Examination Coordinator will reschedule missed assessments. In some cases, an alternative assessment might be provided and in a few rare cases it might not be possible to reschedule so Assessment Policy procedures will be followed and communicated to the student.

FETE UPDATE

The Fete Committee met recently to work through the logistics of presenting a Fete in 2022. With restrictions only just being lifted, it was decided to reframe this year’s Fete into something later in the year that would give the Committee more time to put something together. The community event will now be a Christmas Market (pending City of Joondalup approvals) on Saturday, November 26 from 4-8pm. More information will be provided later in the year. For anyone happy to help out in the planning or on the day, please contact Julie Wookey on juliewookey12@gmail.com
