Paris- The Final Day

Our last day in Paris.

Today we set off early to beat the crowds to explore Montmartre. We admired the views over Paris and then went into the Iconic Sacre-Coeur before wandering the cobbled streets of Montmartre seeing the Wall of Love, the Place du Tertre (art area) & Rue de l’Abreuvoir (the most photographed street) before heading to Boris Boulangerie (as featured in Ladybug & Cat Noir) and the streets that John Wick was filmed on.

We then headed to the icon that is the Moulin Rouge before having shopping time at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann.

We dropped bags off back at the hotel before then heading to the Louvre to go inside and admire the Mona Lisa & Venus de Milo and other famous historic pieces.

We finished our day in a restaurant near the Louvre and sampled escargots!

Everyone finally collapsed into bed, ready for our long journey home.

We are looking forward to telling you all about our amazing three weeks in France when we arrive back into Perth at around 5,35pm on Friday.

Your children have been absolutely outstanding throughout the trip. Thank you so much for trusting us with them and we hope these memories stay with them forever.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris. We were all super-excited to make our way via train to Disneyland and were up and ready early.

We spent the whole day exploring Disneyland and Walt Disney studios, watching the famous parades & having fun on all the rides.

Lots of tired but smiley faces at the end of the day.

Today we explored EVERYWHERE in Paris we walked over 20km through the city.

We started at the Louvre then continued on through the Tuileries gardens to Place de la Concorde, past the Grand Palais up the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe.

We had a little time to check out the very expensive shops before heading back down to the Seine, crossing Pont Alexandre iii then passing Hotel des Invalides on our way to the Jardin du Luxembourg via a shopping spree in Brandy Melville, before passing the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle.

Finally we headed back to relax at the hotel before pizzas were delivered.

St Stephen’s à Paris

Today we bid a teary farewell to our amazing French hosts who have made us feel so welcome over the last two weeks before taking the train to Paris.

We checked into our hotel and then made our way out for dinner by Pont Neuf before setting off on a sunset cruise along the Seine.

It was perfect, full moon, pink/blue sunset sky and we passed the Tour Eiffel as the twinkle lights came on.

Perfect start to our cultural trip to Paris.

Mont St Michel

We woke up in our French Chateau and had a tasty buffet breakfast and made our pack up for the day before heading off to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Mont St Michel.

We walked the 2.7km to the iconic island commune and made our way straight to the Abbey, unfortunately the weather was not on our side and we had our first day of constant rain meaning the views were not as good as we had hoped. However. we still appreciated the awesomeness of the location.

We then had time to explore the town and warm up with a chocolat chaud before heading back to our hosts in Guérande. Lots of students then headed out with their hosts for night of bowling and pool.

Normandy, Chateau du Morlay… and Karaoke

Today we had a very early start heading north to Normandy to visit the Caen War Memorial where we had a guided tour learning all about WW2 from a French perspective.

We then had a quick lunch before a tour guide joined our coach and took us to see one of the few remaining intact German Batteries giving us so much information en route.

We then went onto the American Cemetery which was a really special place that moved us all and we were lucky enough to watch the lowering of the Flag Ceremony.

We then went to Omaha Beach were the allies landed in 1944. Finally we drove to Chateau du Molay, a very impressive building our home for the night, where we enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal.

The students then went on to sing their hearts out at Karaoke.

What a day!
