There is no assembly this week due to the Arts & Academic Festival taking place.



Please note the following change to our policy on lost library books. Library books are loaned for one week in the Primary School and two weeks in the Secondary school. Emails are sent if the book is overdue. If the book is not returned after repeated requests, we require the item to be paid for in cash at the Library where a receipt will be issued.

 Thank you for your understanding, please note we prefer to have the books back rather than to charge for them.

On Friday the Captains will be selling potato chips and chocolates during lunch – 50c per item.  You are welcome to give your children a small amount of money to spend.



All students are invited to wear a T shirt of any colour to school on Friday!  We are celebrating the end of term, the conclusion of the Arts & Academic Festival, and proceeds are to be donated to Service Learning tours in our school.


LOST PROPERTY: Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of term.



Please return Year 1 and Year 3 swimming forms to the office before the end of term.





Book in now for Full Day Care at St Stephen’s Cararmr from 16th to the 23rd of July. We have lots of fun activities planned including making glow in the dark bouncy balls, DIY floam, slime, clay, cooking every day and on the 19th we are having a party day with lots of party craft, games, music and food!

Week 8, Term 2

19 June 2018


ASSEMBLY will be run by our Pre-Primary cohort this week.  This is the last Wednesday afternoon assembly for the term.

There is NO assembly next week due to the Arts & Academic Festival taking place.



After the close of business tomorrow, we will no longer be able to accept any late Media, Music or Dance recordings.

Please submit your packaged USB to the Primary Office with student name, class, event, and any other information necessary.


“WEAR YOUR BRIGHTLY COLOURED T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER” on Friday 29 June (last day of the school term)

To celebrate the conclusion of the Arts and Academic Festival on Friday 29 June we invite students to wear a coloured T Shirt for a gold coin donation.

Donations will be put towards Service Learning Tours in our school.


REPORTS will be available online during Week 9 – Please check that you have your log-in ready on SEQTA Engage.

Swimming lessons commence in Term 3.

Year 1 & Year 3 Swimming lessons will take place daily during Week 2 and Week 3 of next term.

Please fill in the forms that have been handed out to students in these year groups today and submit to the Primary Office asap.

If your child is in Year 2, 4, 5, 6, your information will be given to you in due course.

You are welcome to book your child(ren) in for Full Day Care here at St Stephen’s Carramar for the third week of the July school holidays. We are open from the 16th to the 23rd July.

At OSHClub the children are engaging their problem solving skills, making predictions, manipulating objects, experimenting with cause and effect, and reflecting on why things happened. Through activities such as our balloon fort challenge, building a boat, a cardboard box city, DIY foam paint and making insects, there is always something fun and engaging to do.

Feel free to drop in during our before or after school sessions to learn more about our inclusive environment at OSHClub. We are in  the 3rd transportable next to the school oval. Please book in online at www.oshclub.com.au

Week 7, Term 2

Please note that Media entries must be handed in no later than Monday 18 June.


SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS are due by 13 June.



Please buy your tickets in the Primary Forum tomorrow morning, Wednesday 13 June,  (between 8am – 9am).

We encourage tickets to be bought prior to the event for catering purposes.

There will be limited tickets for sale on the night.



All clubs/activities end in Week 8 (except Pee-Wee tennis) – there will be NO extra curricular activities in Week 9 (the last week of school).



Puberty brings lots of changes for your child – and for you as a parent too! Your child is transitioning from child to adult – and you may feel uncertain or have questions about how best to support them through the physical, psychological and emotional changes this brings.

We will be holding an evening workshop which will equip parents with information about brain development in the “tween years”.  This will include information on what physical, psychological and other changes to expect and accept, more about puberty and mental health, parenting strategies on how you can support your child, and how you can partner with the school to ease the transition to high school.

Congratulations to all of our participants in this year’s Robo-Cup challenge!

Last weekend the two Robo-Cup teams (Soccer and On Stage) attended the Robo-Cup Junior Metro North event at Sacred Heart College. The second half of the day consisted of some competition time with the On Stage team performing their routine along with 15 other teams. They did us proud!

Their perseverance and hours of coding paid off with the team receiving the one golden ticket which has put them through to the State event in August!

Week 6, Term 2

Year 1W will be hosting the Assembly tomorrow afternoon!  Please be seated by 2:45 pm for an early start.


ARTS & ACADEMIC FESTIVAL – all recordings to be handed in at the Primary Office asap.

We are waiting on a number of Dance background music recordings as well as a number of Music USB’s to come in.

Please could you hand these in to the office as soon as possible; package should be clearly labelled with student name, event, name of song, copy of lyrics, track number etc.



Year 5 and Year 6 students will be participating in the lightning carnival this Friday 8 June.

We wish our athletes the very best of luck!





In light of many students being caught up with exams, camps and the like over recent weeks, we have decided to extend the House Logo redesign period until the end of the term (29 June).

This will give students more time to work on their collaboration pieces to ensure their House gets the best new redesign. We can’t wait to see your ideas!



 If you haven’t already had the pleasure – meet Betty (pictured with our lovely D&T Teacher Mr Matt Kirby). Betty is part of the School’s Service Learning project which will see the beloved old caravan given a makeover and transformed into a mobile food service to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Students have spent time fixing the ol’ gal up, along with help from our community and volunteers. Betty is at the stage where she will soon be fitted with a whole new set of cabinetry courtesy of Kitchen Craftsman. Yet before the Kitchen Craftsman team come in, we have to do some behind-the-scenes work and we need your help!

We’re putting the call out to our community to see if anyone might be interested in helping out with donating any of the below items to get Betty one step closer to hitting the road with the School’s Service Learning programs.

If you are able to help out with donations of any of the below items or even time to work on Betty with us, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Service Learning Coordinator, Donna Lund, (aka Betty’s best friend) on donna.lund@ststephens.wa.edu.au.

  • White gloss paint to paint the windows
  • Kitchen/Bathroom white low sheen paint to paint the interior
  • Mondall timber sealer to seal the timber floors
  • Tempered/laminated glass or Plexiglass (plastic) for glass install
  • Lockwood locks for the doors
  • Swing up serving window – Gas struts to help swing up the serving window
  • A pair of hands, or students to help with the painting



This week tickets will be sold on Friday 8 June from 8am – 9am in the Forum.

Next week tickets will be sold on Monday 11 June and Wednesday 13 June from 8am – 9am in the Forum.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our parent volunteers who are organising this event – we appreciate your hard work and commitment to our school.



In preparation for our long July school holidays OSH Club is offering Full Day Care here at St Stephen’s, Carramar from the 16th to the 23rd of July. We will provide a wide range of activities including art and craft, board games, sports, drama, games, science and fun with friends. During this time we will also begin cooking cup cakes for our Cake Stall in Term 3 to support Lindsey Navias in her participation of the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Week 5, Term 2

We are pleased to announce our final total reached the handsome sum of $613.65.  All money received will be forwarded to the Cancer Council. Thank you once again to all those who participated.



This is a reminder that all entry forms are due back to the office tomorrow, Wednesday 30 May.

DANCE forms should have a copy of accompanying music attached (clearly labelled with student name and details)

MUSIC entries require clearly labelled electronic media attached (this should be in a bag, clearing labelled with student name, year group, song title, artist, track number etc)

MEDIA entries must be submitted to the office by the deadline of Monday 19 June (again, clearly labelled with name (s), year group etc.)



Year 2F will be running the assembly tomorrow afternoon.  Please could you be seated by 2:50 pm latest.



Tickets will be on sale in the Forum from this week,  8:15am – 9am, anyone wanting to purchase a vegetarian or gluten free hot dog will need to order one when purchasing tickets.

We also need volunteers to help on the evening and sign up sheets are on the Community Notice Board in the Forum.



Please note that Year 5 and 6 students will be out at the lightning carnival on this day.

All other students are welcome to book the deal!

Week 4, Term 2

We take this opportunity to remind you about several car park rules and etiquette;

Vehicles are not permitted to drive or park over footpaths in any circumstances;

When exiting the car park, there is a LEFT TURN ONLY;

NO student drop offs or pick ups are allowed in the staff car park turning circle;

No parent parking in the staff car park.

Thank you for making our car park a safer and happier place.



No formal assembly due to camps.


WORSHIP on Friday will take place as per usual for Early Years PP – Year 2.



Please note that all entry forms are due back in to the office by Wednesday 30 May.

All forms must be signed by a parent and teacher.

A huge thank you to Carrie Thornton and her helpers for the most wonderful Mother’s Day stall that was held last week!

We are pleased to announce that Cassidy Byrne (1W) won first prize in the raffle draw.

Thank you to everybody who attended the celebrations on Friday, we have raised $550 for the Cancer Council Biggest Morning/Afternoon Tea.  Donations can still be left at the office until Friday.  Thank you for your support.





The Music department will be presenting our assembly on Wednesday of this week.  Please be seated by 2:50 pm.

ARTS & ACADEMIC FESTIVAL – Monday 25 June to Friday 29 June

Welcome to our 2018 Arts & Academic Festival! This is a house competition open to Year 1 – Year 6 students! Entry forms are available from the Primary Office.  These need to be filled out, checked and signed by the class teacher, as well as by you as a parent.  All forms are due back to the office by Wednesday 30 May.

The various categories are; Music, Dance, Public Speaking, Drama, Science, Writing, Spelling, Mathematics, Media, General Knowledge.

Media:- Please submit your packaged and clearly labelled (name, class, and choice of media) thumb drive to the Office by no later that Monday 19 June.

Music:- Please submit your form along with the labelled electronic media attached (this should be in a bag, clearly labelled, with student name, year group, song title, artist, track number etc)

Dance:- Please submit any backing track/music recording to the office with your form – clearly labelled with the name of the student, class, and section entered.



The new banking drop box is located in the Primary Reception Area near the lost property rack. Students can drop their banking books with money into the box on any day during the week. The banking ladies will collect the books on a Friday and return the banking books via the classroom teachers.



We are proud to announce that Frane Lessac will be visiting our school on Thursday 7 June from 1.45pm-2.45pm.

The author will be giving a presentation to Carramar Primary students Years 2-6.



The School’s innovative House structure is one we’re extremely proud of. It gives students a home away from home, an extensive support system and a sense of pride and loyalty. After many years of loyal service, we think it might be time for a refresh of the logos representing each space.

The House colours and mascots we all follow will stay the same but we’re looking to engage our students in a collaborative redesign of the logos, with the updated design to be unveiled in Term 3.

Students from all Years can contribute to the process, penning their own design ideas over the next few weeks and submitting them to the House Deans either in person or via email by June 1 at the very latest.

The Deans will then collate all the designs and pass them on to the School’s experienced graphic designer who will take the ideas and combine them into three potential designs, which will then be put to a vote.

We aim to open the poll on the School’s Facebook page on 15 June (TBC), which will close end of day Friday, 29 June, with the winner announced at the start of Term 3. You will need to be a follower of the School’s page (facebook.com/StStephensSchoolWA) to be able to vote.

An unveiling event for Term 3 will be announced closer to the time, allowing students to take ownership of their new House logos into the future.

OSH Club will be going online on Monday 21 May with our new enrolment and booking system to ensure we are ready for the new Child Care Subsidy (CCS) that starts on the 2nd of July. All current enrolled families will receive an email from accounts with a link to follow, this link is only valid for 7 days so please be sure to complete this to allow your current information and bookings to roll over. Families who are not enrolled can still do so this week before 6:00pm Friday on the old system or on the new system from Monday 21 May.

Please be aware that the old system will close at 6:00pm on 18 May and NO BOOKINGS will be able to be made over the weekend.

“YELLOW” Bethany Home Fundraising Day

Our “dress in yellow” day at the end of last term was hugely successful and we ended up receiving $377.65 in donations for Bethany Home.  Thank you everyone!

CROSS COUNTRY PP – YEAR 12 CROSS COUNTRY ASSEMBLY will be held in the Sports & Learning Centre on Friday 11 May from 8:55am to 9:20am.


DENTAL CHECKS will be carried out for PP, Year 3 and Year 6 classes on Thursday morning of this week.



The final day is tomorrow in the Forum from 8:15 am – 8:40 am.


SCHOLASTIC orders are due by 14 May.



On Monday 7 May, students at St Stephen’s Carramar Primary received a visit from West Coast Eagles representative Bradd Dalziell and a very special (and funny) guest… team mascot “Rick the Rock Eagle”!

The presentation focused on healthy lifestyles, choices and their consequences, resilience, inclusive behaviours and giving everyone the chance to belong. Bradd explained the meaning behind their mascots name ROCK: Relationships, Optimism, Calm and Kindness. It was a very fun and informative morning for all (even those who aren’t West Coast Eagles fans)!!


We have a large amount of lost property – please take a look as soon as possible as we will be disposing of all items at the end of this  week.

We have a table of various items in the Forum as well as clothing on a rack in the Primary Office.



Notification: Mother’s Day Stall this week

Dear Parents,


We are pleased to advise that a Mother’s Day Gift Stall will be operational on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings this week from 8:15am – 8:40am.

The stall will be based in the Primary Forum and our students are welcome to purchase gifts for Mother’s Day.

Our prices will be from $1 to $10. (BYO shopping bags).
