CANTEEN

Due to the success of last year’s trial the canteen will now be open for Primary Students to purchase items during recess on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. The below items are available in addition to daily specials. Please check the parent portal for a full list of items available from the canteen.

All food on the canteen menu is nut free.

 

Year 5 and Year 6 students ONLY:

Wednesday 27 February is “Polar Bear Day” :-)! To celebrate this occasion, Parresia Secondary House is organising a special Morning Tea on the day. All Yr5 and Yr6 students are invited to attend and can purchase a serve of cake or a cupcake for a gold coin donation. All donations will be handed over to charity.

2019 WACFA Soccer League

2019 WACFA Soccer League

SSS Carramar is once again supporting entry of teams into the 2019 WACFA soccer league.

Matches are held on Saturdays (Term 2 & 3) and the following teams can be entered:

  • u/6 mixed team: Kindy & PP players
  • u/8 mixed team: Yr 1 & 2 players
  • u/10 mixed team: Yr 3 & 4 players
  • u/12 mixed team: Yr 5 & 6 players

Training will be on Wednesdays after school.

Cost for the season (including the uniform) is approx $205 – $240 per player.

(Cost excludes shin pads and soccer boots for players)

SCHOOL BANKING

School banking for 2019 will begin this Friday 8 February. Students with existing accounts can drop their banking books into the drop box located in Primary Reception. Welcome packs for new enrolments will be distributed to families once they arrive from the Commonwealth bank. We also have a vacancy for a volunteer to help with processing of the school banking books.

2019 SOCCER COMPETITION

As you would be aware St Stephen’s School Carramar is a member of the Western Australian Christian Football Association (WACFA) whereby students have been able to participate in a Saturday morning soccer competition. Parents organise and coach the teams and we are asking for expressions of interest for the 2019 season. Furthermore if you are interested in volunteering in helping Kiasten Bailey as an overall manager for the season she would appreciate you contacting her at your earliest convenience. Welcome to our new families and welcome back to all of our returning families for 2019. We hope you have enjoyed time together during the holidays and students are ready to learn and grow in 2019. Our teachers and learning assistants are busily putting the final touches to classrooms and programs in anticipation of our students starting for the year.

Extra Curricular Activities 2019

We are excited to offer after school clubs and activities to our students. We are currently finalising details of the clubs available for Term 1 2019.

Please note the following:

  • Students may only register for 2 activities per week. This will allow a greater number of students to access the program.
  • Many activities have a limited number of places. Please continue to register your name on the wait list as places do become available throughout the term.
  • Parents are required to register using an email address and password then each student can be registered in preparation for enrolment. Please ensure that all areas are completed.
  • Term 1 activities will be open for student enrolments on Wednesday 6 February at 6pm. Clubs will commence in week 2, week beginning 11 February and end in Week 9.

*Please note registration is required before you can enrol in an activity. At the beginning of a new year you will need to update your child’s details and include their new year group and class.

Please follow the steps below to assist in the registration process for yourself and your children;

  1. Click on this link. https://www.enrolactivity.com/#/ststephens/welcome
  2. Welcome page for Extra Curricular Program will be displayed.
  3. Click on the ‘Account’ tab to show the ‘Sign In’ and ‘Register’ options and select ‘Register’.
  4. Enter registration details and click the ‘Register’ button. (Your user name can be just your name).
  5. After a successful registration the user will be presented with ‘Registration saved’! Please check your email for confirmation and follow instructions to ‘Activate’ your account.
  6. Click on ‘Activate Account’. When your account has been validated you will be able to sign in.
  7. To sign in simply enter your username and password and click the ‘Sign In’ button.
  8. Follow prompts to complete your user profile including full name and phone number.
  9. Click ‘Your name’ on the menu bar to show various menu items and click ‘Register Student’.
  10. To Register Student fill in the ‘Child Name’ and ‘Year’ and click Register.  After successful registration the user will be presented with a list of registered children.

To view the Extra Curricular Activities available choose the ‘Activities’ tab on the menu bar. For more information on each activity click on the appropriate square.  From this page you are able to enrol your child for this activity, places remaining will be shown, and if full your enrolment will be added to the waitlist.  An email will be sent to you confirming your enrolment and/or waitlist place.

A JAM PACKED LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 2018

Tomorrow will be the last day for all Primary students for 2018.

8.00 am        Living Nativity on the Green

9.00 am        Final Assembly in the Forum

1.00 pm        Students dismissed to care of parents/guardians

1.00 pm        Family afternoon on the Green – all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  See below for details

6.45 pm        Year 6 Graduation Evening

 

A DAY ON THE GREEN 2018

  • Rides, water slides, sausage sizzle and fundraising stalls.

UNITING CHURCH WEST CHRISTMAS APPEAL – THANK YOU!

A letter of thanks from a family who has benefited from The Uniting Care West/ Carramar Uniting Church Christmas appeal through the donation of gifts from the families of St Stephen’s School & Target Joondalup.

I would like to thank EVERYONE involved. You guys have enabled me and my family to reach out even more to all the children we care for and how it has benefited us all particularly over the last couple of years.

We are a family of mum and dad, plus 6 young people in the home (sometimes more kids as we are foster parents too!) so Christmas can be a difficult time to ensure that everyone gets a small something.

However, with you guys alongside us, you have enabled us to spread the love even more!

To get the phone call to come and pick up “a little something for your family” turned into an amazing experience and I felt extremely humbled by people’s generosity that I want to let those people know just how much their donation makes an impact on our family.

We are so grateful and thankful. We will continue to try to grow healthy, happy and caring young people as best as we can, so they too will grow up and adopt the same culture of ‘giving back’ to our community as you do.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR LEGO LEAGUE TEAMS!

Over the weekend teams from Carramar Secondary, Duncraig Secondary and Carramar Primary participated in the State finals of the First Lego League. Following Saturday’s competition, the teams from Carramar Primary and Carramar Secondary Lego have progressed to Nationals which will be held in Sydney on Saturday 8 December. Congratulations and we wish you the best of luck!

SUMMER READING CLUB – WANNEROO LIBRARY

The Summer Reading Club is taking place at Wanneroo Library these summer holidays.

Last year the Summer Reading Club was a huge success!

  • Over 43,000 children participated across Australia, and
  • more than 360,000 books were read.

The theme for the 2018 Summer Reading Club is Curious Creatures. Young readers will be encouraged to explore new worlds as they develop a curiosity of creatures. At Wanneroo Library, Summer Reading Club activities will run from 3 December until 1 February, 2019. To launch the Summer Reading Club Wanneroo Library will be hosting fun tie-in activities for the whole summer.

Registration is FREE! When participants register at Wanneroo library they will receive a fabulous Reading Club pack. Alternatively, they can also register through the Summer Reading Club website at www.summerreadingclub.org.au.   National prizes are also up for grabs for online participants.

 

WANNEROO ROAD JOONDALUP DRIVE INTERCHANGE – NOVEMBER 2018 UPDATE

Fundraising efforts are in full swing for the cohort of staff and students attending the 2019 St Stephen’s Global South Africa Tour. The group is looking forward to visiting orphanages and helping disadvantaged children next year. They have organised several fundraising activities and would love your support.

• Who doesn’t love a Bunnings sausage sizzle? Head down to Bunnings Joondalup on Friday 7 December and Whitfords on Saturday 5 and 16 January to grab a snag and support the Tour.

• Stock up on meat for the family with the meat raffle worth $350 provided by Homestead Meats. Tickets are $5 or 3 for $10. See Natalie Everett or Adam Merrifield to go in the draw.

• Grill’d Joondalup are featuring the South Africa Tour as part of their Local Matters fundraising initiative for November. Head down for a bite to help out.

• You can tick getting the car washed off the list of pre-Christmas jobs, with a school-based car wash at Duncraig on Monday, December 3 and at Carramar on Tuesday, December 4.

• Finally, WA Cleanskin Cellars Fundraising will donate $25 for every case of wine sold. To order, go to https://www.wacleanskincellars.com.au/Fundraising/Home. Sign in with the username: South and password: Africa. Postage is $5.

INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
On the 24 November ICEA will be hosting a festival celebrating all things that make West Australia the best state. ICEA is a youth run reconciliation organisation that focuses on creating positive experiences for all Australians. Come down to be involved in all the festival activities: live local music, market stalls, petting zoos, surfing, skating, basketball and most importantly heaps of Noongar cultural activities.
