Newsletter
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to imagine that today we have begun Week 4 of Term 1! As this is our first Deputies Newsletter for 2018, we want to officially wish you a happy new year and hope that your term at St Stephen’s School has begun with real joy and excitement. It has been so encouraging to watch the way that our students have started back on a real high – they are building new friendships, they are engaged in learning and they are known and celebrated. At St Stephen’s School, we see each individual for who they are; their strengths, their challenges and their aspirations.
At our Worship Gathering this term we have been looking at the wonderful truth that God has made us special and unique; we are dearly loved and so incredibly valued by Him. This idea links in beautifully to our Understanding Me key and classes have been exploring what this means throughout their devotions and biblical studies sessions. One of the flow on effects of understanding God’s love for you is that you are better positioned to get busy loving others. We see this each day in our school as our staff, students and families engage in thoughtful, encouraging and uplifting words and deeds – what a special community we have.
Later this term, we have our 3 Way Goal setting meetings. This is a valuable opportunity for students, parents & teachers to get together to discuss each child’s individual learning goals for this semester. The students will be doing some work in the coming weeks so that they are able to constructively contribute to the discussion and have some ownership of their own learning. As a school we see the home-school partnership as paramount to the success of learning in class. We encourage you to chat to your child about their goal and support them in achieving them.
As always, this term is full of many exciting opportunities and events; Year 5 & 6 surf lessons, Musica Viva incursions, Grandparents Day, Wet Carnivals, project exhibitions, incursions, 3 Way Goal setting meetings and to finish off the term, our whole School Thanksgiving Service. We look forward to welcoming you into our School community whenever you are able; remember that we always have plenty of coffee available straight after worship gatherings and assemblies on both sides of the street.
“You made my whole being; you formed me in the mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful, I know this very well.” Psalm 139:13-14
God bless
Vernita and Richard
