Day on the Green

A group of Carramar sporting students took to the course at Kwinana Golf Club today, competing in the WA Schools State Golfing Championships. Congratulations to Rhys Craven (Year 12), Deon Billington (Year 12) and Caleb Lampard (Year 11) on their excellent efforts!

Inspired Artist

“Mick” by Madeline McAllan.

Congratulations to Madeline McAllan (Year 12) who has just been listed as a finalist in the Youth Black Swan Prize for Portraiture – WA’s only Portrait Prize. This is the third consecutive year Maddie’s work has been featured in this prize, with this year’s sketch of her Grandfather inspired by her childhood memories shared with him. This year’s Black Swan Prize Youth Awards Exhibition will be held at Brookfield Place Tower 1 from Monday 29 October to Friday 23 November.

Community Freezer

St Stephen’s Carramar are asking the community if anyone has an unwanted freezer that they would be willing to donate to the School to store food that staff and students prepare for Service Learning.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Challenge for a Cause

Our Year 7 and 8 students decided to stay a little longer at School last Friday, camping out overnight for the World Vision Backpack Challenge. The challenge encouraged students to walk in the shoes of people experiencing conflict who are forced to flee their homes with only what they can carry on their back.

2018 Athletics Carnival

We couldn’t have been luckier with the weather at for the Secondary School House Athletics Carnival! With the sun shining and House pride on full display, our students gave it their best on the track and field while cheering on their mates. Well done to all those who participated!

Candid Conversation

Now well and truly immersed in Term 3, Carramar students are feeling inspired about their HASS studies after a recent visit from Dr Anne Aly MP, Federal Member for Cowan. Dr Aly met with Year 9 students who are beginning their Civics & Citizenship course, then visited the Year 12 ATAR Politics & Law class to discuss her experiences in Federal Parliament. Not only that, Dr Aly also spoke candidly with the Year 12 students about their hopes after high school and provided some words of wisdom as they prepare to move onto the next chapter of their lives. Thank you for visiting!

Clever Construction

Drawing on their teamwork and mathematical problem solving skills, Carramar’s Mathematics Enrichment students took on a challenge to build a giant six-level geodesic dome. Students are investigating the properties of geodesic shapes and how and why these shapes are used in building and construction. Take a look at how they went!
