Dress to Impress

There were colours and costumes galore at the Esplanade foreshore last Friday night, as the Year 11 students donned their best dress-ups for their annual River Cruise! The ‘Famous Faces’ theme saw students dress as their favourite characters and celebrities. It’s also worth noting that staff were just as eager to embrace the opportunity to dress up……… take a look at some of the creative outfits!

Little Feet Festival

St Stephen’s School are the key partner for this event and will be putting on a range of activities including virtual reality safaris, African-style drumming, make-your-own binoculars and a real safari van for people to explore.

We would love to see our community members come along on the day.

Make Your Own Picture Book Competition

Bridie Le Cornu won third place in the Year 7 and 8 Make Your Own Picture book competition for her entry “KOORT”.

Her story examined the perspectives of an indigenous girl living in a remote community verses a city child and how their lives were impacted by the 1967 referendum for Aboriginal rights.

It will be on display in the library later this week with the other entries.

Tech Savvy

Our helpful students and staff were working at Westfield Whitford City yesterday morning, offering their technological advice at a GenTech workshop. They will be there again Wednesday 12 September to help solve tech problems and share their wisdom!

Visual Art Workshop – Tips from Tweedie

Last Friday we had the privilege of Mark Tweedie, West Australian visual artist visiting Carramar to run a painting workshop with our year 10 and 11 Visual Art students.  Mark Tweedie is a visual artist whose practice explores themes of family, mortality and ageing in a style that focus’ on tone and form using a contrast of soft washes and thick impasto.

The 3 hour workshop helped the students develop the confidence when painting portraits as well as exploring a more challenging style.

WA Volleyball Cup

A big congratulations to all the boys and girls who competed in the WA Volleyball Cup last Friday. St Stephen’s Carramar sent two teams to compete. The boys team managed to make it through to the finals that were played on Saturday and fell just one step short of the grand final. Making St Stephen’s School the third best volleyball school in WA!

Book Week 2018

Students, staff and parents found the treasure in books last week for Book Week 2018. Throughout the week the Secondary School Daily Bulletin featured ‘Guess who is behind their favourite book finding some treasure!’.

Wrapping up the week in style with a costume parade in the Primary School………………..even Mary Poppins (Mrs Beare) delighted in the festivities.
