Tough Mudders

Carramar Year 7 students recently enjoyed an awesome day of team building activities at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre. Fun was high on the agenda, as well as challenges requiring students to work together to develop their problem solving and communication skills. There is nothing quite like getting out of the classroom for a day of fun with classmates!

Beat the Drum

Carramar staff and students heard the strum of drums during their lunch break as Carramar Percussionists gave an impromptu performance around the campus. Their moving display drew a curious crowd who enjoyed the energetic demonstration. Thank you to Mrs Thomson and the Percussionists for bringing beats to the lunch break!

Caring For Our Community

Our Carramar Secondary students regularly visit UnitingCare West Community Options, a centre for adults living with disability. In their most recent visit, students used their woodwork skills to assist the Men in Sheds project. Students helped clients prepare and cook lunch and shared a meal with them.

Our students shine during each visit as they use their skills to help a worthy cause and get to know the members of our wider community.

Library Lifeline

With the increased reliance on devices, it is more important than ever for us to offer charging amenities for our students. Devices like laptops, iPads and phones have become important educational tools that facilitate a productive learning environment. As the popularity of such devices continues to grow, keeping a device charged can be an issue. A dead battery limits student productivity.

The Library has installed a Charging Station with a multitude of different chargers.  Charging stations are fixed units that feature separate locking compartments where a student can leave their device to charge safely.

Art House

Our ATAR Visual Art students were treated to a visit from leading Perth artist Rachelle Dusting, a fine art and portrait artist, last week. Rachelle demonstrated her talents, answered questions and worked alongside the emerging artists to help them brush up on their skills.

Carols at Regents Garden

This week, residents at Regents Garden Residential Care Home were treated to a special Christmas Carol performance from Carramar students. The Primary Vocal Ensemble joined their Secondary peers in song as part of the St Stephen’s Service Learning Program. What a great opportunity to spread Christmas cheer while serving the wider community!

ACT UP

Carramar Senior Drama students ventured into Perth’s cultural hub last week. They explored the Heath Ledger Exhibition: Life in Pictures at the Art Gallery of WA followed by a viewing of Mr Robot by the Barking Gecko Theatre Company. After the show, the group were lucky enough to have a private question and answer session with the show’s director Matt Edgerton and the cast and crew. What a coup!
