The South Africa Tour is off and running! Students and staff will work in schools and orphanages as part of the St Stephen’s Global South Africa Service Tour, recently taking part in a training workshop to prepare. This amazing opportunity will see them immersed in South African culture while working to improve the lives of underprivileged children. Valuable Visit
Our Year 7 students warmly welcomed Salvation Army staff to the Carramar campus recently, taking part in a workshop to better understand the issues surrounding homelessness in Perth. The Salvation Army staff encouraged our young learners to think compassionately and wisely to form a Christ-centred response to these complex issues.
Year 12 Students and Parents
This is important information for all Year 12 students and their parents.
The Year 12 Information Handbook – Part 1 is now available on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) website https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/year-12-information
All year 12 students are strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with this document. It contains valuable information on the requirements to achieve a WACE; WACE checker; Enrolments; Exams; Certification and the student portal. This document is for ALL Year 12 students, not just those sitting ATAR exams.
Most important for ALL students to complete, is the ‘Student Declaration and Permission’. Details of this are on page 21 of the Year 12 Information Handbook – Part 1.
Should you have any queries, please contact me in the Administration office or email me on: Kim.Dorney@ststephens.wa.edu.au
Antigone
Congratulations to the Year 11 and 12 Drama students on their production of Antigone by Sophocles.
The students each took on the task of directing a scene and a production role such as costume design, set design, researching the time period and/or lighting design. The students are studying the play as part of the ATAR Drama course, so this was a brilliant opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the text.
A special mention to Elijah Thomas from Year 10 who took on a role in the production only weeks before opening night.
Mock Trial Triumph
Last week the St Stephen’s Carramar Mock Trials Team took part in the first round of the prestigious Law Society of WA Mock Trial Competition, held at the WA Supreme Court. The newly formed team secured a win for the Prosecution in a Criminal Matter versus Guildford Grammar School. The team’s confidence is high for Round 2!
St Stephen’s Pride
Out of this World
Congratulations to Year 9 students Jiyona Jipson and Vivek Desai (Carramar) and Lauren Bates and Noah Kane (Dunraig) who have been selected to represent St Stephen’s School at Space Camp USA. They will be part of a 70-member delegation of young Australian students visiting America in October. Among a range of exciting activities, they’ll visit the Californian Science Centre in Los Angeles and the US Space and Rocket Centre in Alabama. We are beyond excited for them!
