Celebrating Carramar Secondary

Last night we reflected on a wonderful year for our Carramar Secondary students at their Presentation Evening. While celebrating student achievements across many learning areas, we farewelled our Class of 2018 together as they embark on their next chapter.

National Stage

Our teams continue to excel at each FIRST LEGO League competition – this time our two Carramar Teams have progressed to the Nationals! The Raging Comets, Galaxy Goats and Robotic Operating Buddies all performed well at yesterday’s State Finals. The Raging Comets and Galaxy Goats will now be heading to Macquarie University in New South Wales for December’s National Competition!

VET Induction Day

Tuesday morning saw the annual VET Induction morning, this year held at Duncraig campus, for all of the students embarking on External VET studies in 2019.

Students listened to Lewis Schofield (2017 graduate) and Megan Wright (2015 graduate) tell them all about where their qualifications have taken them since they left SSS.

Lewis is now working FIFO for BHP as an apprentice electrical mechanic and Megan has returned briefly from Scotland where she has been working in a stately home (using her Certificate II in Hospitality). While she is home, she is using her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care as she does relief work in a childcare centre so that she can save some money before returning to the UK.

The value of a qualification earned at school was clear for all to see!

Lego Legends

Competing against over 300 students from around the state, St Stephen’s School’s four teams produced some outstanding results at the FIRST LEGO League over the weekend!
The Carramar Secondary team took home the Research Award, Duncraig Primary’s Space Doctors earned an award for their Research Project Presentation and the Carramar Primary team, the Galaxy Goats, were awarded the Overall Championship title!
The Carramar Primary, Carramar Secondary and Duncraig Secondary teams have also progressed to the State Finals this weekend – we can’t wait!

Sports Stars

Last Tuesday night we celebrated a jam-packed year of sporting achievements for our Carramar Secondary students! The Sports Awards night recognised our MVPs, Team Players and Interschool and State Representatives, awarding them for their skill, dedication and sportsmanship. • Stock up on meat for the family with the meat raffle worth $350 provided by Homestead Meats. Tickets are $5 or 3 for $10. See Natalie Everett or Adam Merrifield to go in the draw.
