Shane McMullan from Into the Mask Theatre hosted a three-hour Commedia dell’arte workshop with Carramar Year 9 Drama students last week. There was lots of laughter as students brought characters to life through physically-demanding movements and learned the tricks of the artform that is more than 500 years old ahead of an upcoming assessment.

Switch to Secondary
Transitioning into Secondary School can be a bit daunting for students and parents as their children move into the next stage of their schooling. We have a few events coming up for parents of Year 7 students to come and chat and see how they are adapting in class.
Carramar Year 7 parents can see the teaching and learning first-hand as they tour several Year 7 classrooms followed by afternoon tea, an open discussion and Q&A. This is on Wednesday, 21 March at 1.30pm. To reserve a spot, go to www.trybooking.com/TZIA.
Exploring Engineering
Year 12 Carramar students recently visited UWA to experience an Engineering Showcase. Students learned about each discipline of Engineering on offer at UWA and were able to participate in activities relating to the course. It was also a great opportunity for the students to get first-hand advice from UWA volunteers, who answered the students’ questions about university life, workplace experiences and job opportunities in Engineering.
ANTIGONE
St Stephen’s School Carramar Year 11 and 12 Drama Students present Antigone – a tragedy written in the year 441 BCE. Based on the aftermath of a civil war, protagonist Antigone defies the law, buries her brother, and is caught. When Creon decrees she is to be punished, Antigone takes matters into her own hands.

Byron and his teammate, Tim Hewitt were the first duo team to cross the finish line, completing the race in just over four hours while battling very choppy conditions! Congratulations Byron – we’re glad you made it to shore before the great white shark was spotted!

TOP SHELF TEACHERS
Teachers from the St Stephen’s School Graduate Teacher Program celebrated the completion of the program this week. After two years of mentoring from our teachers and passing their knowledge onto our students, the group were sent off in style with an afternoon tea, certificate presentation and gifts.
The group, who studied through the St Stephen’s Institute, were the biggest cohort yet and applauded the school for the support it offered throughout their studies.
All the best to these outstanding young teachers – we look forward to working with you now and beyond.
