NORTHERN EXPOSURE

St Stephen’s Global will be launching the 2020 Lou Morrison Kimberley Tour for current Year 8s and 9s in the next few weeks. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our students to spend time with indigenous students in our partner schools – Yiyili and Purnululu Aboriginal Schools in the East Kimberley. Students will learn about Australian indigenous culture in rarely-accessed traditional lands. The group will also have the opportunity to experience some of the amazing beauty of the rugged Kimberley region as they travel from Broome to Kununurra. The tour will run in July 2020.

Parents and students will be invited at attend Information Evenings at both campuses in late October and expressions of interest will close soon after.

Email mark.fielding@ststephens.wa.edu.au to register your interest now.

Year 9 SSS Carramar Students’ French Cooking Experience in Term 3

Mastering the art of making crêpes and madeleines

In week 8 on Carramar campus, Year 9 students in French – Isabelle Chatterton, James Buchanan and Travis Sirmans – perfected their technique of cooking crêpes and experienced the art of making madeleines in this hands-on French class dedicated to gastronomy. Reading the recipe in French languages and measuring the ingredients in grams or millimetres, not cups was part of the immersion. Eventually, we all enjoyed the delicious  French sweet treats which were shared with Mrs Rachael Holt who welcomed us again in the home economics facilities.

SETTING THE PAICE

Carramar Year 8 Deacon Paice continues to make his mark on the Motocross world. He has been competing in the Junior State Championships, which include a series of six events held at different tracks. He has finished second in the State overall and has moved up a class to take on kids up to 16 years old. Deacon will also be competing and representing WA at the Australian National Titles in Adelaide this month.
