REMEMBRANCE DAY

On Friday, 11th November 2016, Year 3 to 12 students at Carramar gathered together to mark Remembrance Day. The service led by some of the Year 11 History Students, with participation by some Year 3 students and the school choir, remembered the sacrifices shown by Australian soldiers in World War One and all conflicts since that date. Poems, bible readings, prayers and a commemorative address were used to highlight the importance of Remembrance Day and the reason why we need to stop in order to think about servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate price for our rights and freedoms. The service also incorporated the traditional Last Post, Minutes Silence and Rouse. Lest We Forget.

2017 Year 7 Orientation Day

November 4th

This was again a successful and fun day for the new students starting Year 7 in 2017.

Highlights are always the fun and games on the oval and the BBQ lunch. A big thankful to both the staff and Hi-Mates who helped the day run so smooth. The school community is looking forward to working with these students next year, and pray they get a safe, restful and fun break. Remember the final orientation is January 27th – See you then Year 6’s!

D & T

Design and Technology Safety Induction Day – held 21st October.

Another successful and engaging learning experience for students studying MDT wood, metal or engineering in 2017. The Design and Technology department takes safety seriously, in doing so it is a requirement that all upper school students attend this day and refine and engage with safe workshops knowledge and skills. The day is based on industry standards and was enjoyed by all, highlights including testing P.P.E and fire safety training. It is our hope that the young men and woman in this area gain skills to make fine projects and safe attitudes towards looking after one another.

GIFTED AND TALENTED

6 of our Gifted and Talented ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’  students attended the Storylines Festival at All Saints College on Thursday, 3 November 2016. The festival was an excellent opportunity for these aspiring writers to meet with accomplished authors and spend time workshopping their ideas for their writing projects due later in the term. The students can be seen with Australian author AJ Betts who is best known for her her young adult novel: ZAC & MIA.

YEAR 10 SPRING SOIREE

YEAR 10  SPRING  SOIREE

A wonderful evening of dining and dancing was shared by all at Bridgeleigh Function Centre on Wednesday 2 November. The students from Yr10 displayed their formal dancing skills and  the finest of etiquette, in a night of elegance and beauty.

The waltz, rhumba and cha cha, were just a few of the dance styles on display, as our students showed the community that they are ready to enter the adult world as young men and women. Thanks to Mrs Angela Gordon and Ms Melissa Beale, for all their hard work in preparing the students and planning for this spectacular event.
