BIBLICAL EXPEDITION

Year 11 Carramar and Duncraig Biblical Studies students visited various places of worship recently to learn about the beliefs and values of different faiths and how important understanding and acceptance are in a peaceful world.

A FAIR ARGUMENT

St Stephen’s Carramar’s Mock Trials team are having an historic run, getting further in the competition than any of our school teams have before. They beat number one seed La Salle College recently to advance to the semi-final against Kingsway Christian College on September 17. Alumni Coach Mr Ashley Roberts, of Law Firm Gilbert + Tobin and HASS HOLA Mr Joshua Plummer are extremely proud of the group, which includes Sophie Mitchell, Riana Shah, Tahlia Beckitt, Claire Graham, Vishu Parmr, Sophie Dickson and Matthew Smith. Best of luck for the Semis!

CAMBODIAN INSIGHTS

Students selected for next year’s Cambodia Service Tour recently met with Ms Beale, who has previously attended the tour, at Carramar. She shared personal insights and language tips to help the group prepare for their trip and learn more about the history and culture to ensure a much deeper experience.

YOUNG AUTHORS

Two outstanding storybooks written and illustrated by Carramar students have won awards at the Make Your Own Storybook Competition, held by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. Congratulations to Sofia Wakeling (Year 3) and Serian Lockwood-Jones (Year 8) who both placed second in their respective divisions!

VALUABLE VISIT

Over the holidays, a group of Year 10 and 11 students seized the opportunity to conduct service learning on a global scale as they travelled on the 2019 Indonesian Service Tour. Volunteering at the Bali Life Foundation, Suwung School and Kuta Womens Centre students were able to connect with the locals while learning about Indonesia’s rich culture. We have no doubt our students have created memories that will last a lifetime.

Little Doves Playgroup

Little Doves Playgroup is a fun and free way to inspire little ones’ imagination, taking them on adventures through story-time, song, arts and crafts.

St Stephen’s School Carramar’s Collinson Library will pilot a new early literacy program from Term 3. We aim to welcome young families from the local community to join us in our love of story and rhyme.

Parents, Carers and children are welcome to book their place in the Little Doves program, named after the Dove in the School’s crest. It runs as part of a six-week program.  However guests can book week-to-week to fit their schedules. We will be finishing with a lovely Teddy Bear’s Picnic in the School’s sprawling grounds.

This program is ideal for children up to three/four years-old. All families booked into this program will have access to the library’s borrowing facilities.

Sessions will be held in the Carramar Collinson Library on Thursday at 9am. They start on 15th August and run each week until 19th September.

Guests are asked to register their interest in each session via Trybooking to allow us to plan our activities accordingly. For more information go to: www.trybooking.com/BCXFK.

“A St Stephen’s School education encourages children to imagine, be curious and ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of the world,” Principal, Mrs Donella Beare said.

“Little Doves Playgroup will be the perfect way to spark children’s’ inquisitive nature, learning language and communication skills in asocial setting.”
