Would you like to be involved in the First Lego League 2017?

Are you into Lego? Do you enjoy robotics? Do you want to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology?

St Stephens Carramar will be hosting the FLL competition on Saturday 4 November 2017 and we are seeking volunteers to help out on the day.
FIRST is a volunteer-driven and operated event and we need your help to make this event possible. FIRST Lego League teams will be researching real-world problems then challenged to develop solutions using their robot. They must also design, build and program their robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology and compete with other teams.
Your help in judging, refereeing, scoring and crowd control is serious business but you will have an amazing day full of fun and laughter!
Competition Details:
Carramar Regional: Sat, 4 November 2017 at St Stephen’s School, Carramar Campus

Year 8 & 9 Girls AFL Dockers Cup

Thursday 7 September,  20 girls from Year 8 & 9 competed in the West Perth District Dockers Cup for girls.  For the majority of the girls, this was the first time that they have played in any structured AFL competition.  Playing in Division B, the girls easily accounted for their rivals in the early rounds before facing some strong opposition from Mater Dei in the final round.  With a late goal, the girls were able to escape with a narrow win and go through to the round robin phase undefeated.  The grand final would see the girls play a rematch against Mater Dei and the game was similar to the earlier game.  Kicking with the breeze first, the girls were unable to take their chances but with a goal just before half time they had a narrow lead at the half time break.  Both sides were evenly matched in the first half,  but our girls eventually gained a two goal advantage into the breeze and were able to hold on until the final siren.  Although there was a minor mix up at the presentations the girls were able to collect the Free Dockers Shield as undefeated champions. Brooke Hurst received the award for best St Stephens player over the day, although all of the girls contributed to the wonderful result.

Congratulations and well done girls!

Another Win for Senior Boys Soccer

Our senior boys soccer team have won again! This is an amazing achievement, with around 100 schools from across the state competing.

Coach, Jonathon Langley said…..

“We’re through to the quarter finals of the state competition – we’re in the top 8 teams in the state!
It was an exciting and even game and after extra time it finished up 1-1. This took the game to a penalty shoot out. All 11 players for both teams had taken a penalty before we could find a winner and it was Harry Dickson who managed to score the winning penalty. Will Parkes was also a hero as he was brilliant in goal during the penalties, pulling off some great saves.”
The boys were absolutely bouncing at the end of the game – as they deserved to be. ”

The boys are hoping to get more spectators along to cheer them on in the next game. Their opponents are yet to be confirmed.
