BACKPACK PROJECT

St Stephen’s School is working with Surf Dive ‘n Ski to donate 200 Billabong backpacks to UnitingCare West, which will assist children in our community who are unable to go to school with supplies needed for their education. Each Primary class and Secondary homeroom have a backpack to fill with supplies – take a look below to see what items your family can donate to those in need.

PAY IT FORWARD

Installed as part of our Service Learning program, this new donation box outside the Banksia Grove Village Coles invites the wider community to drop off donations for UnitingCare West clients. Read more in the Wanneroo Times below.

BANKSIA Grove shoppers are being urged to ‘pay it forward’ thanks to St Stephen’s School.

The school has recently partnered with UnitingCare West and Banksia Grove Village to install a donation box outside Coles.

Branded with the ‘pay it forward’ slogan, the box encourages the wider community to get involved in giving back by donating items such as non-perishable food.

As part of the school’s service learning, which sees staff and students out in the community each week helping those less fortunate, the donations will be collected and given to UnitingCare West to deliver to its clients.

Christmas Appeal

Can you believe Christmas is only two months away?! Our School is once again supporting the UnitingCare West Christmas Appeal this year, supporting those who are disadvantaged in our community. Our community is encouraged to donate any food items from the list below, dropping the items to Homerooms. Donations open today and will remain open until the end of Week 7.

Giving Back

Do you want to give back to the community but aren’t sure where to start or find the time?

Our Service Learning team are looking for parent and community volunteers to help out with the St Stephen’s School Food Carts for UnitingCare West at Westfield Whitfords and Lakeside Joondalup on a rostered basis. NAIDOC Week

A brand new mural at UnitingCare West‘s Merriwa service hub, painted by our Carramar Year 10 students, was unveiled today in celebration of NAIDOC Week. A project of the Year 10 Service Learning Program, the mural creation encouraged students to embody Aboriginal culturural significance in their artwork while engaging with the local community.

Caring For Our Community

Our Carramar Secondary students regularly visit UnitingCare West Community Options, a centre for adults living with disability. In their most recent visit, students used their woodwork skills to assist the Men in Sheds project. Students helped clients prepare and cook lunch and shared a meal with them.

Our students shine during each visit as they use their skills to help a worthy cause and get to know the members of our wider community.
