Beat the Drum

Carramar staff and students heard the strum of drums during their lunch break as Carramar Percussionists gave an impromptu performance around the campus. Their moving display drew a curious crowd who enjoyed the energetic demonstration. Thank you to Mrs Thomson and the Percussionists for bringing beats to the lunch break!

TOP SHELF TEACHERS

Teachers from the St Stephen’s School Graduate Teacher Program celebrated the completion of the program this week. After two years of mentoring from our teachers and passing their knowledge onto our students, the group were sent off in style with an afternoon tea, certificate presentation and gifts.
The group, who studied through the St Stephen’s Institute, were the biggest cohort yet and applauded the school for the support it offered throughout their studies.
All the best to these outstanding young teachers – we look forward to working with you now and beyond.

Blast From the Past

As part of their VET Induction Day, Year 11 and 12 Duncraig and Carramar students were joined by past St Stephen’s School students who discussed the benefits of learning through VET. Patrick Middleton, AKA DJ Middy and Mrs Tara Roberts, who is now a teacher at Carramar Kindy, spoke to students about how their VET experience set them on amazing career paths.

Caring For Our Community

Our Carramar Secondary students regularly visit UnitingCare West Community Options, a centre for adults living with disability. In their most recent visit, students used their woodwork skills to assist the Men in Sheds project. Students helped clients prepare and cook lunch and shared a meal with them.

Our students shine during each visit as they use their skills to help a worthy cause and get to know the members of our wider community.

We Want More People Like You

We would love to welcome more people like you into our School so we have created a new Thank You initiative where currently enrolled families can receive a $500 Coles Myer voucher* for referring a friend to St Stephen’s School. It is our way to say Thank You for spreading the good word. Contact your School reception or email admissions@ststephens.wa.edu.au for more details.

Summer Lovin’

There were two words on everyone’s lips this week…….

Greased Lightning!

Over 100 students across both campuses auditioned to be a part of next year’s musical, Grease! Our Drama teachers have been blown away by the sheer talent of our students. This will undoubtedly make for a slick production in 2018.

Library Lifeline

With the increased reliance on devices, it is more important than ever for us to offer charging amenities for our students. Devices like laptops, iPads and phones have become important educational tools that facilitate a productive learning environment. As the popularity of such devices continues to grow, keeping a device charged can be an issue. A dead battery limits student productivity.

The Library has installed a Charging Station with a multitude of different chargers.  Charging stations are fixed units that feature separate locking compartments where a student can leave their device to charge safely.

Art House

Our ATAR Visual Art students were treated to a visit from leading Perth artist Rachelle Dusting, a fine art and portrait artist, last week. Rachelle demonstrated her talents, answered questions and worked alongside the emerging artists to help them brush up on their skills.
