CREATIVE EXPEDITION

March 18, 2019

Year 10 students recently took an enlightening excursion to Fremantle to explore the world of children’s literature and illustration. The trip included a workshop with children’s book author and illustrator Briony Stewart at Paper Bird Children’s Books and Arts, and a meeting with illustrator James Foley (author/illustrator) who comically demonstrated the process of illustrating a children’s book.

After leaving Fremantle inspired, students are now designing a promotional poster to celebrate Book Week as part of their Commercial Design class.

Year 11 and 12 Deadlines

March 15, 2019

Parents of Year 11 and 12 students are reminded that the last date for subject changes and (in Year 12) applications for Special Provisions for the 2019 ATAR examinations is Thursday, 4 April 2019. Year 12 students are required to sit ATAR course examinations. Where the course has both written and practical examinations, students are required to sit for both of these examinations. Students who do not sit an ATAR course examination and do not have an approved sickness/misadventure application for that course, will not have the units contribute to the calculation of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).

SCSA Parent and Community Website

March 14, 2019

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) has developed a website to support parents and members of the community. The Parents and Community website is accessible on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority website https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au via a new tab – Parents and Community.

The website has been developed for parents and community members as a guide to:

  • what children and young people should learn
  • how they are assessed
  • the standards children and young people are expected to reach at each year level.

The website presents information that parents often ask the Authority and will enhance their communication with schools. It has been developed with input from representatives of key parent groups.

On Wednesday, both Cricket teams had convincing wins, with the 7s & 8s winning 50-35 and the 9s & 10s winning 39-7. In the Basketball, the Year 8 boys and Year 9 girls were victorious. The 8 and 9 girls also won their Touch Rugby game. Congratulations to all teams and good luck against Peter Moyes this week.
