ATHLETES EXCEL

Yesterday’s ACC Athletics Carnival saw Duncraig Secondary students excel across track and field at HBF Stadium. Falling short of third place by just one point, our athletes placed an impressive fourth overall, with the Junior Girls, Senior Girls and Overall Girls named the Champions in their divisions!

GROWING CHAMPIONS

Duncraig Secondary rounded off the swimming season yesterday with an impressive performance at the A Division ACC Swimming Carnival! Placing sixth overall as a School, Crystal Edwards (Year 10) broke three ACC records and was the Individual Age Champion for Under 16 Girls, while Tom Anderson (Year 9) took out the Individual Age Champion for Under 15 Boys. Ella Popham (Year 7), Oliver Bridgman (Year 8) and Glenda Morgan (Year 12) also placed in the Top Four for their age groups. Congratulations to all our swimmers!

ACC Success for the Athletics Team

In a hard-fought competition, Duncraig Secondary’s Athletics Team achieved third place at the ACC Athletics Carnival on Monday! It was a massive day of sprints, jumps and throws at the WA Athletics Stadium, with our girls even taking out the Overall Girls Shield.

Congratulations everyone!

ACC Cross Country

Facing some challenging weather conditions, the Cross Country runners battled through to place seventh out of 75 schools at the ACC Cross Country yesterday! Special mentions go to Rachael Edwards (Year 12) who placed fourth in the Under 19 Girls and Remy Rowse (Year 9) who achieved the bronze position in the Under 13 Girls race.

A Busy Summer of CAS

I would like to thank Anna Pargeter, our CAS sport organiser, for her efforts and hard work in regard to Inter-School Sport. We have more teams and more sports represented than ever before.  I would also like to commend the swimming team and the staff who coached them. We came third in A Division – and when results across all divisions (A through to I) were combined – we came 3rd out of 80 schools and were only 7 points off second place! Well done to all students, parents and teachers for their support.

Next term the winter CAS season starts. While we are not entering a Year 7 AFL team (we have never managed to sustain a Year 7 team in the past) we are entering a Junior and a Senior Team as always and Year 7 boys can still attend School trials for the Junior Boys AFL team (Years 7,8,9).  A Year 7 Boys Football team has been entered into the North Metro Cup (Dockers Shield), which takes place on Tuesday 12th June in Week 7 of Term 2.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a blessed Easter and a safe holiday in a few weeks’ time. Our annual Thanksgiving Service, to which our entire community is invited, takes place in the last week of Term. Please previous correspondence regarding booking a place for your family.

ACC-C Results

At the ACC Athletics C Division we were placed an agonising 2nd Place by 6 points! It was a fantastic achievement and reflected all the hard work and effort by all students. The Highlights were the Junior Boys taking out the 1st Place trophy in their age group whilst the Junior Girls were runners up by 1 point!!We have built solid foundations and a culture to hopefully build upon this success for next year.
