SPARKING SKILLS

July 2, 2020

Excited to expand their experience in electrical work, Year 9 and 10 students from Carramar and Duncraig recently attended the Try A Trade course at the College of Electrical Training. Students were given an introduction to domestic lighting systems and circuits, with the College commending students on their excellent attitude towards the course.

MENTOR MORNING

December 3, 2019

Some familiar faces were welcomed back to our Duncraig campus for this year’s Careers Conversations breakfast! Alumni and parents of St Stephen’s School chatted to the Year 11s about their different careers and experience in the workforce, aimed to inspire our senior students who are beginning to explore career options.

SKILLS ON SHOW

September 23, 2019

Our VET students have been doing us proud in recent weeks, showcasing their skills among industry professionals.
Year 12 Amelia Hodder has been attending a girls only Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship class for her External VET. The class was recently presented with a WA Training Award for Female Participation in the Electrical Industry, with lots of interest from employers at the event.
The annual Hospitality Group Training Showcase also saw school-based apprentice Year 12 Abi Kemp join full-time apprentice chefs to produce a five-course fine dining meal for 300 people. Executive Chef for the night was alumni Zac Tholen.
So great to see St Stephen’s students making their mark.

WORKING HARD

July 30, 2019

Year 10 students rounded out Term 2 with a week of work experience, learning about the world of work first hand. Students were introduced to various roles including physios, vets, engineers, electricians and chefs, just to name a few. Thank you to the employers who provided a placement for our students and ensured they had both meaningful work and interesting insights into the workplace.
