Visa, Fundraising, English Lessons

Hello Students,

Thank you to those who have emailed me a copy of their Vietnam visa. Some students have been having trouble downloading it. If you click print, then choose from the drop-down menu – save as PDF – it should allow you to save it. Any problems then please let me know.

Some students unfortunately entered the exact dates of our trip (7-16th Jan, 2025) on their visa application as opposed to entering the departure date from Vietnam of the 20th of January as requested. This is to allow us extra time at the end should there be any delays with departure for whatever reason. This was mentioned multiple times by myself, Mrs Freeman and Mrs Harris during our visa application session last week. This was also stated in the PowerPoint I provided to you all. I am sure it will be fine, however, if for whatever reason there is a delay in departing Vietnam, then any extension to your visa will unfortunately be at your cost.

As next week (week 4) is your final week before exams, you have been given permission to wear your Vietnam tour shirt throughout the week should you wish.

Finally, we are looking at a possible date in week 8 to meet up with you all to further discuss the English lessons you will be teaching. Please ensure you finalise the resources you need for this as outlined by Mrs Harris at our last meeting and email her what you need printed off. Please do not leave this to the last minute as we would like it all finalised by the next meeting so you can practice what your lessons will look like.

If you have any questions then please contact Mrs Freeman, Mrs Harris or myself. As always, keep going with the fundraising as there is not long left.

Kind regards,

Mr Merrifield

Fundraising deadline

Afternoon All,

This is just a reminder, as previously discussed with you, that the deadline for fundraising to be handed into the school is the last day of this term for students which is Wednesday December 4th. If you have any queries or need help with this then please get in contact with Mrs Freeman, Mrs Harris or myself.

Also, when your visa comes through, can you please send me an electronic copy of it. If there are any issues with then please email me or see one of the tour leaders.

Kind regards,

Mr Merrifield

Hello All

I am attaching the details of the person(s) and topic you are working with to prepare some resources for the English lessons we are to deliver.

Please decide on 10-20 words or phrases for your topics and work on producing flashcards and any extra resources you come across.

A really good website is twinkl which I have subscribed to for a month. My username is nicola73758339

Remember

  • Make the flashcards colourful
  • Make them clear and easy to read
  • no more than 4 pictures/cards per A4 page

I can print and laminate , so send things through as you create them

Thanks very much

Passport photo – jpeg file

Hello All,

Just a quick one to let you know that the scanned copy of your passport information page and passport photo should be a jpeg file – I don’t think a pdf file is accepted from memory. Any problems with this then please bring them both on the day and we should be able to sort it out.

Kind regards,

Mr Merrifield

VIETNAM MEETING – VISA APPLICATION

Hello Students,
I hope you had a great break relaxing, and for those with exams coming up, I hope you got a bit of study in – only 91 days until departure!
I have heard some fantastic news from students fundraising efforts over the holidays, in particular a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle which proved very profitable – well done to Paige, Akayla, Lilly, Meg and Luke.
Our next Vietnam meeting is going to take place during lesson 5 and 6 on Tuesday October 15th at the Carramar Campus so that we all lodge the paperwork for our Vietnam Visa. Duncraig students, can you please meet Mrs Freeman at the turning circle straight after lesson 4 (bring your bag and lunch with you) so that we can head to the Carramar campus. You will be dropped back at the Duncraig campus around 4pm. I will post a meeting spot at Carramar for everyone on the blog over the next few days so please keep an eye on your emails for an alert.
You will all need to bring:
  • an electronic scanned copy of the data page of your passport saved onto your computer
  • an electronic scanned copy of a passport photo saved onto your computer
  • a card to pay the $25 fee for the visa (unless it has gone up since March)
  • a charged laptop

If you are not sure how to scan the passport or passport photo, then please bring them to school and we can show you ow to do this.

Students, I have provided a link below to a PowerPoint for you to have a look at in advance to see what information is required.

Visa PowerPoint

Can you all please bring a pen as we will continue planning our English lessons after the visa.

If you have any questions then please let me know.

Kind regards,

Mr Merrifield
