3-6 Swim Carnival

The 3 – 6 swimming carnival was a huge success last week. Congratulations to all of the students who competed and a special congratulations to the winning house, Alethea.

As always, these events wouldn’t run smoothly if it wasn’t for the support of our community, so a huge thank you to all who supported us on the day.

ELC after school play

As OSH use the playground each day, a reminder to all ELC parents to vacate the playground by 3.45pm. Please feel free to use the oval and its playground after this time.

Harmony Day

This Friday, March 15th, we will be celebrating Harmony Day. Students are encouraged to wear a splash of orange as we celebrate cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and respect for all. Let’s come together to embrace the richness of our community’s cultural tapestry.

Assessments and Rubrics

We believe in providing transparent and insightful feedback to support your child’s learning journey. As part of our commitment to monitoring student progress, we utilise formative assessments, with one effective method being the use of rubrics.

Rubrics serve as invaluable tools in understanding what ‘progress’ truly entails. They provide a clear framework for assessing and communicating the different levels of development and mastery of a concept. To help you better understand your child’s growth, we have differentiated these levels using the following wording:

Emerging: This level indicates initial understanding or entry-level proficiency.

Evolving: Here, your child is demonstrating progress and building foundational skills.

Embedding: Your child has developed a solid grasp of the concept or skill and is applying it effectively.

Excelling: At this level, your child is excelling, showing a deep understanding and mastery of the subject matter.

By utilising these clearly defined stages, we aim to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your child’s academic development and help identify areas for further growth and support. If you need further clarification, please speak with your classroom teacher.

Important Reminders:

Please ensure that students arrive at school on time. If you child is late you must sign them in at the office.
Stay informed about upcoming events and activities through the Primary Blog and your child’s class blog.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in nurturing the growth and development of our students. We hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

“May God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” (Psalm 20:4, NIV)

Warm regards,

Hannah Lockwood-Jones & Andrew Johnston
