Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we come to the close of another busy and vibrant term, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all of your support. The partnership between home and school is such a vital part of what we do, and it has been wonderful to share so many memorable learning experiences with your children this term.
This week our Early Learning Centre students came together for our “Big Cook Up”, preparing meals for families in need within our local community. It was inspiring to see each year group contributing in their own special way:
- Year 2 prepared jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings
- Year 1 cooked hearty spaghetti bolognese
- Pre-Primary made delicious Mars Bar slice
- Kindergarten designed and decorated their own hot chocolate cups filled with hot chocolate powder, ready to be enjoyed with some hot water.
What made this event even more special was the chance to use fresh produce from our very own ELC garden in the meal preparation, a wonderful reminder of how our children’s learning connects with real-life experiences and service to others. A huge well done to all the students and staff involved in this effort to support those in our wider community.
A special thanks also to our Year 1 and Year 3 teams for the fantastic camps they organised last week. These were filled with fun and provided children with opportunities to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Class Placement 2026
As we prepare for next year, we would like to take the opportunity to inform you of the process we use when placing students in their classes for next year. Please note that all teachers place students after examination of several factors which include:
- Social and emotional concerns
- Friendship preferences
- Academic ability
- Staff observations
Your child’s current class teachers construct their class lists in collaboration with their partner year group teacher(s), Learning Assistants and Specialist Teachers. Where possible, the teaching staff will provide experiences for students to interact across the classes to also observe student interactions with students not currently in their class.
Once the teachers have completed their class list recommendations, they are forwarded on to the Primary Leadership Team to be reviewed.
The process of creating class lists is done carefully and over a period of time. Please be assured that every decision we make is in the best interests of your child and understand that, while we recognise the uniqueness and preferences of each student, we will not guarantee a preferred placement.
Please, can we encourage you to trust in the professionalism and dedication of our staff as they consider the many factors in placing your child in a particular class and not make requests for preferred class placements for your child.
You will be notified of your child’s teacher in January 2026 before they commence school.
As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We wish you a restful and safe term break, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the new term ahead.
Warmest regards,
Hannah Lockwood-Jones & Andrew Johnston
