SEQTA Workshop for Year 7-10 Parents

Year 7-10 families are invited to attend a workshop that will explain the SEQTA suite and include a live demonstration on how to navigate the platform. The evening is best suited to parents new to our school, although anyone is welcome to attend should you like a ‘refresher’.

Parents and carers will learn how to look at lesson content, where to view assessment results, how to upload documents (so you can assist your student when they need to submit an assessment on SEQTA), where to view important notices and much more.

Our Digital Learning Specialist, Amy Aldous, will present this interactive workshop. Please bring a device with access to the internet so you can follow along.

This event will be held on Monday 1 November, 2021 in the Theatre, located in the Main Administration Building at Duncraig Secondary Campus from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Please RSVP using the link below advising if you will be attending, how many and if you have any questions you would like answered on the evening.

NAPLAN Reports

Dear Parents,

Every year our students sit NAPLAN which is a snapshot of the individual students’ ability in comparison to the rest of the year level and in comparison to State and National levels of ability. While this is valuable information, the results are indicative of only a moment in time and should not be taken as the sum total of your child’s ability.

This week, NAPLAN individual student reports will be sent home with your child, along with a brochure that provides detailed information about how to understand the report.

Please encourage your child around these results and emphasise that this is not something to be passed or failed, but will help identify areas of strength and focus.

Yours sincerely

Dr Darnelle Pretorius

Head of Campus, Duncraig

Student Citizenship Nomination

Citizenship Awards are presented to St Stephen’s School students who demonstrate exemplary standards of service and conduct, both in our school community and beyond. For a student to receive a Citizenship Award, they must be consistently demonstrating kindness, respect, integrity, generosity and care for others.

To be considered for a Citizenship Award you must be nominated by a student or teacher. Each nomination form needs to be endorsed by a staff member at the school. You may also self-nominate.

Recipients will be selected according to their merit in addressing the following selection criteria:
• Service to the School
• Support to other people, especially outside their immediate peer group
• High standards of positive behaviour and conduct
• Involvement in extra-curricular activities (in school and out of school)
• Contribution to the culture of St Stephen’s School

The deadline for nomination forms is Friday the 22nd of October 2021. All students who are subsequently shortlisted for an award must then complete a personal citation supporting the nomination in order to receive an award. Winners will be announced on Presentation Evening in December.

Please ask Mr Andrews or your Dean if you have any queries.

First Lego League CARGO CONNECT CHALLENGE 2021

Join our mission into the 33rd season of FIRST®! Are you ready to build a better tomorrow together?

This program inspires young people to experiment and grow their confidence, critical, thinking, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning.

This year’s FIRST LEGO League challenge is called CARGO CONNECT. Teams will learn about how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations.

As more demands are placed on transportation systems, the children need to rethink how cargo is transported from place to place. We have the power to build a path forward and invent the future of transportation. And it starts here, with you.

What if you could build a better world? Where would you begin?

You will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under Core Values celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

Are you ready for the Challenge?
