Children’s Book Week 2020 was celebrated in the Secondary school from the 26th – 30th October. This year’s theme was “Curious creatures, wild minds.”
If you entered the secondary library cafe this week you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a jungle, replete with “curious creatures,” tropical plants and birdsong. The books featured in this year’s competition were celebrated on a static display, along with a selection of crazy creatures created by Year 7 Science students. Staff suggested their favourite books and these were displayed around the library. Each day a “Nature Narrative” was held in the quad at lunchtime, with volunteer staff members reading extracts from their favourite books – The BFG by Roald Dahl was a fan favourite. On Tuesday a book themed Quiz was held in the library with prizes awarded to the winning students. On Friday the French Club presented a French children’s book reading in the library at lunchtime. “Wild Minds” all around!
