This year, our school entered our first Secondary Interschool Numero Challenge. Numero is a mathematics card game that involves mental arithmetic and fun! Our school entered 16 people with a total of four teams from Years 7-10. Some of these students had played Numero before but for many of them, they had only played Numero for 4 weeks or even less! The North Heats were held at St Stephen’s School, Carramar and our students had a lot of fun. There were individual and team challenges, some of which our teams placed in the top three for these events.
One of our teams placed 4th in the North Heats and were invited to attend the Grand Final the following week. The team consisting of: Josh Craig, Alyssa Hardingham, Ben Lyon and Thomas McIntyre were very excited to be competing in the Grand Final for their first ever Numero competition! We were up against schools from the north and south heats and some of these schools had won the Numero competition numerous times. Our students competed very well and finished in 8th place out of twelve schools.
