Transitioning into Secondary School can be a bit daunting for students and parents as their children move into the next stage of their schooling. We have an event coming up for parents of Year 7s to come and chat and see how they’re adapting in class.

This Friday (March 16) Duncraig Secondary will hold their first Coffee and Conversation for 2018 where Year 7 Coordinator Suzy Mettam will discuss the transition into Secondary in the Community Room from 8.30-9.30am. Attendance is free. Contact the School for more information.

Sculpture by the Sea

March 9, 2018

Yesterday Visual Art teacher Verity Palmer and Art Technician Claire Davenhall took the Year 9 Visual Art students to Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe.

Two artists were on hand to talk to the students, Rima Zabaneh and Andrea Vinkovic.

This is the 14th Annual Cottesloe Exhibition of Sculptures by the Sea.

Sculpture by the Sea was established in 2005 and is the world’s largest FREE to the public sculpture exhibition, having generally over 70 sculptures designed by artists from all over the world. The exhibition is featured from the sea wall, all the way along the sand towards North Cottesloe and on the grassed areas around the beach, and this creates a unique sculpture park.

Well worth a visit!

Year 11/12 Drama Production Tickets on Sale FEBRUARY 28!

February 26, 2018

Chicago! A city of jazz and gangsters, prohibition and poverty! ‘The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui’ by Bertolt Brecht is a parable about Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in the 1920s and 30s, set in a curious pastiche of the gangster genre. This play is in many ways a warning from history – why do we continue to allow corrupt evil leaders to gain control over our communities? Come and see our talented year 11 and 12 Duncraig Drama students in this theatrical exuberant performance of this original Brechtian play.

Please Note* This Production contains simulated violence.

MAKING A SPLASH FOR MENTAL HEALTH

February 17, 2018

Duncraig has well and truly made its mark in The Big Splash WA, a public art initiative aimed at raising awareness of child and adolescent mental health. Art Tech Claire Davenhall has two dolphins featuring in the exhibition; ‘InterAqua Dolphin’ can be found at Stirling Gardens on St George’s Terrace, while ‘IceBreaker Dolphin’ is currently outside His Majesty’s Theatre. Meanwhile, Year 12 Visual Art students and their teacher Verity Palmer created the dolphin Finlay, aiming to spread the message ‘how to be a good friend when riding those waves of emotions.’ Ms Davenhall’s dolphins are on display until Wednesday, 4 March, while you can meet Finlay with 44 other school dolphins on Saturday, 17 March.
