We have just attended the Australian Mathematics Trust awards where Ethan Abraham (Year 7) received a High Achievers award for being in the top 0.3% in the Australian Maths Competition for his age in WA.
Nick Hodgskin (Year 12) was the WA winner of the inspiring student award for inspiring and supporting his peers in the learning and enjoyment of mathematics.
Congratulations to Nick and Ethan.

The Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) is a national not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics and algorithmics for students of all standards.
Fundraising efforts are in full swing for the cohort of staff and students attending the 2019 St Stephen’s Global South Africa Tour. The group is looking forward to visiting orphanages and helping disadvantaged children next year. They have organised several fundraising activities and would love your support.
Who doesn’t love a Bunnings sausage sizzle – onions on top or bottom?
Head down to Bunnings Joondalup on Friday, December 7 and Whitfords on Saturday January 5 and 16 to grab a snag and support the South Africa 2019 Tour’s fundraising efforts.
You can also tick getting the car washed off the list of pre-Christmas jobs, with a school-based car wash at Duncraig on Monday, December 3 and at Carramar on Tuesday, December 4.
myEdOnline is a new personalised learning platform, and is included in the Booklist for 2019. This is an App which allows differentiation for all students and live tracking of student learning. The App also allows for teachers to give instant feedback on a quest or assessment. It will also be used to create digital lessons for students, deliver engaging lessons and get real-time insights into exactly where each student is at in their individual learning journey.
For more information about how each Learning Area is using the App, please refer to the program page in SEQTA at the start of 2019.

I am tremendously proud of our SSS-Duncraig Team, aka R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddies) they performed exceptionally in the robot game and scored well in the core values part of the competition held today at the Carramar Campus.
As a result we have advanced with 12 other teams to the state finals next weekend at Curtin university!!
We had two other teams from St Stephens advance; The Raging Comets (Carramar Secondary Team) and Galaxy Goats (Carramar Primary Team) and overall Champions of the round!! Our Duncraig Primary Team, Space Doctors, also won an award for their project presentation.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped us so far; from encouraging the students, supervising training sessions, allowing time out of regular classes and helping with administration and organisation of equipment.
We will need to continue training this week and improve our robot design and presentation for next week’s competition at Curtin University. So please keep encouraging the students if you see them around campus before the Saturday’s Competition.

Three athletes were recognised as some of the best in the state at the recent WA State Athletics Championships! Congratulations to Hayden Windsor (Year 7) who achieved bronze in High Jump, Eloise Parsons (Year 9) who was awarded bronze in Pole Vault and Nicholas Holmes (Year 9) who took home a silver medal in the 2000m Steeplechase. Wow!
The following students were recently awarded Distinction Certificates for their results in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This places them in the top 20% (25% for Seniors) within their year level in Western Australia. It is an awesome achievement.
