Our students, staff and community members gathered on Friday to recognise Remembrance Day, paying our respects to the fallen men and women 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Students and staff held house assemblies to mark this special day. At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
