Year 7/8 Boys Cricket Team were the champions in yesterday’s CAS Grand Final! The boys were undefeated all season and displayed great sportsmanship, skill and teamwork throughout the Term.

InterCRU
April 2, 2019On Friday 29th March, students from a number of schools congregated at St Stephen’s Duncraig for InterCRU, a chance to hang out and encourage each other in living as Christians at school. After a couple of games and chatting over afternoon tea, the students shared their experiences of being in a lunchtime group, and heard a talk about making the most of opportunities to strengthen your faith at school. They were urged to be oaks with deep roots, not saplings, so that they can withstand the pressures that come with being a Christian in the school environment. IMPACTCRU, the voluntary lunchtime groups at St Stephen’s, are supported by CRUWest, who run camps, interschool events and support Christian groups in independent school

RISE Service Learning for T1
April 2, 2019T1 went to RISE to work with young people and adults with disabilities. There were many activities to enjoy like painting portraits, working with clay and wood work. Our students also enjoyed working alongside the people at RISE and getting to know them and support the staff. Some of us learnt how to knit, and spent time in the textiles room where there was lots of laughter and chatting. Other students from T1 supported RISE and the staff by sweep the bricked area in the garden and re arranging the flower pots making it a tranquil and quiet place to sit and enjoy being in nature. After a wonderful time, the T1 students who attended this community service expressed how much fun it was and that the time they spent at RISE was time well spent. We are thankful for the opportunity to support people with disabilities.

WORK EXPERIENCE WANTED
March 28, 2019St Stephen’s School prides itself on the practical learning opportunities given to our students, regularly working with the wider community to assign work experience placements that help both our students and those hosting them.
Some of our students have shown interest in the below industries;
Tiling, Plumbing, Property Valuation, Media, Electrical, Kitchen/Bathroom Renovations and more.
Our Vocational Education and Careers Departments are putting the call out to our alumni and parent communities to see if word of mouth really works!

GROWING CHAMPIONS
March 28, 2019Duncraig Secondary rounded off the swimming season yesterday with an impressive performance at the A Division ACC Swimming Carnival! Placing sixth overall as a School, Crystal Edwards (Year 10) broke three ACC records and was the Individual Age Champion for Under 16 Girls, while Tom Anderson (Year 9) took out the Individual Age Champion for Under 15 Boys. Ella Popham (Year 7), Oliver Bridgman (Year 8) and Glenda Morgan (Year 12) also placed in the Top Four for their age groups. Congratulations to all our swimmers!

March 22, 2019As CAS finishes up this term we have 2 teams in the GRAND FINAL! Both games are Wednesday of week 9 from 4pm-5pm. It would be great to see you there and I know the students appreciate the support.
Year 7/8 boys cricket is home against Prendiville – this will be down on Hamer oval so bring a chair!
The Year 9 girls Basketball is away at Prendiville – feel welcome to travel to Prendiville to support the team.

TOUR READY
March 20, 2019Before jetting off to South Africa for the Service Tour in a few weeks, Year 10 students from Carramar and Duncraig stopped by Bunnings Joondalup to sharpen their DIY skills! Students were trained in using power tools, painting, gluing and sealing, making concrete, laying bricks and rendering. These skills will help students when they take part in building projects at JJ Haven Orphanage.
PAY IT FORWARD
March 18, 2019Following a successful pilot program in 2017, St Stephen’s School was lucky enough to participate in WA Charity Direct‘s School Program again in 2018. Selected Year 8 Carramar and Duncraig students chose the Saba Rose Button Foundation as worthy recipients of a $25,000 donation from WA Charity Direct.
