Following on from our announcement of the House logo update earlier this year, we are excited to announce the new emblems for each House to wear with pride moving forward. The extensive design process saw students submit their own ideas for the logo update, which were compiled into three final designs that went to a vote among staff and students who selected the winning creations. The updated logos bring consistency across the School and a more modern look for our next generation.

Service Learning
September 11, 2018Recently I had the fortune of taking four Year 9 boys for a Service Learning excursion to Joondalup Library where we helped seniors solve their iPad issues (with help from ECU volunteers). For me it was a lot of fun and very rewarding to be a part of.
I just wanted tto commend the boys on their efforts and how well they communicated with those needing help. The seniors I spoke to said the boys knew a lot, were informative, friendly and explained the instructions clearly – future teachers maybe?
Commendations to the boys who came, as they did a fabulous job:
Noah Franks
Ned Hollander
Craig Toner
Tom Sorrell
On a humorous sidenote, the photo below is of Tom Sorrell chatting a couple’s ears off about his experiences with trojan viruses and ransomware. Look how captivated they are!

Symphonic Shows
September 10, 2018Secondary students performed with zest and zeal on Friday night, filling the Theatre with terrific tunes at the Senior Music Concert. Audiences were delighted with performances from the Concert Band, Secondary Orchestra, Swing Band, Stellas, Fellas and more, as the evening showcased a year of hard work for our Music students.
Bravo!

Year 12 End of Year Information
September 10, 2018
We recently emailed information about celebrating Grad’s Day on Thursday 20 September to our Year 12 cohort. Our Year 12’s are approaching an exciting time and we would like to help them celebrate their departure from the school in a positive, memorable way. We have a wonderful community and exciting plans are underway by the school leaders who are planning our Grads Day Assembly and the Deans are preparing House assemblies. Students have been invited to speak with Mr Andrews with any questions or ideas that might build on the strong positive Grads tradition.
Our formal evening event on 20 September is the Year 12 family Graduation Dinner. The Graduation Dinner recognises and congratulates all Year 12 students on graduating as alumni of St Stephen’s School, separate to the graduation requirements of the WA Certificate of Education.
Year 12 Revision Seminars are being held over the next few weeks, and students are being provided with support and additional revision time as we progress to the end of term. We wish our Year 12 cohort the very best for their written Mock WACE Examinations, which commence in the term break on Tuesday 2 October. The program for the return of Mock Examination results to students will occur in Week 2 of Term 4, from 15-19 October. Students doing General courses or Certificates are expected to have their work submitted by the end of this term.
WACE examinations commence on Thursday 1 November, and Year 12 students can obtain their personalised timetable through their SCSA login. Students were reminded by Dr Criddle, in Education Plus, about the required procedure if something should happen on the day of a WACE exam. The Sickness/Misadventure Application Form is available on the SCSA website at: https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/forms/forms. Attendance at WACE examinations is a requirement for WACE graduation.
Our best wishes to all our students for a rewarding final few weeks of term.

Salvation Army Immersion Tour with the Year 7’s
September 6, 2018Recently some Year 7 students went on an excursion to show them how perilous the life of a homeless person can be.
Immersion programs are unique learning experiences that encourage active citizenship via an experiential learning model. The learning is so profound that it aids students in understanding what it means to be part of the human community mindful of the journey of others, especially the most vulnerable.
The excursion started at Greenwood train station and took them to Wellington Square. There guide for the day was Darren.
Below is a short video made by the students.
