Caught on Camera

December 14, 2017

English HOLA, Howie Jakeway, has been making the most of the first few days of the school holidays by watching Perth Scorchers v England Lions in a T20 trial for the new stadium.

“Epic stadium- the light show at the interval was unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a sporting venue. That place is going to be legendary. Took lots of pictures but not really allowed to post them until the official opening next month.”

Artists of Perth

December 14, 2017

Art technician Claire Davenhall has been featured in the new ‘Artists of Perth’ book recently released by Premium Publishers. The Book, by Gabi Mills and Lisa Shearon, profiles more than 60 artists and galleries from around Perth, capturing creators in the studio, at home and revealing their inspiration. So nice to see a familiar face celebrated!

“Always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.” – Ephesians 5:20

Sneaky Peak

December 13, 2017

Here’s a fun behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to transform the Carramar Sports and Learning Centre into an inviting event space. Big thanks to all of the teams who help these events come together each year. We’re already looking forward to 2018!

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” – Timothy 1:7

Cambodia Service Tour

December 7, 2017

Our St Stephen’s Global Year 12 Cambodia Service Tour departs on 6 January for a two week experience working with Raw Impact in their aid and development program in Cambodian villages.

18 students have worked very hard fund-raising and learning about Cambodian culture. The group have been superbly prepared by Mrs. Libbis, Ms. Shanks and Mr. Taylor who will accompany them on tour.

We pray for an amazing life-changing experience and for safety for all.

Service Tour of India

November 27, 2017

The inaugural trip to India has been an eye-opening experience for staff and students. After a long journey they finally made it to Woodstock School.

Students are immersing themselves in India’s rich culture on the once-in-a-lifetime India Service Tour. On day four at Woodstock, students spent the morning painting the new library at Kaplani Village School, before setting off on an Indian food safari to the town of Mussoorie.

What an amazing opportunity.  Follow the students’ blog here: http://bit.ly/2jUon5K

Below are just a few of the photos from the trip so far:

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” – Matthew 25:35

Remembrance Day Assemblies

November 10, 2017

Students and staff held house assemblies to mark this special day. At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Musical Service in Action: Happy 40th Birthday to Glengarry Hospital

November 9, 2017

We were honoured to receive an invitation to perform at the Glengarry Private Hospital 40th Anniversary Celebration.

Students from the Year 11 and Year 12 Music ATAR classes provided music for this special occasion in the newly landscaped courtyard garden.  After a speech from the hospital CEO, Mila Snyman (Year 12) performed Romberg’s Sonata in E minor opus 38 on ‘cello, accompanied by Mrs Jamison, which was very well received by the audience.

The students led the guests in an enthusiastic rendition of “Happy Birthday” as the enormous hospital birthday cake was cut!

Our Year 11 and Year 12 students, Mr Bourgault and Mrs Jamison then provided background music for the rest of the morning while the guests enjoyed morning tea. The musicians performed in small groups and as soloists –  a woodwind trio, ‘cello duet, ‘cello and violin duet, trombone trio, clarinet solo and ‘cello solo – displaying a diverse array of instruments and a wide variety of music.

The hospital staff were very appreciative of our students’ contribution to the atmosphere of the morning. Our music students are wonderful ambassadors for St Stephen’s School and it is such a pleasure to watch them excel on their instruments.

“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.” – Psalm 57:7

Community Freezer Warms Hearts

November 8, 2017

The Community Freezer originated from a desire to show God’s love, in a practical way, for families in times of need.

We aim to keep a stock of freezer meals and non-perishable items. If you are able to supply a meal, or other items, it would be greatly appreciated. Just one meal a term or even one meal a year would be invaluable.

Thank you for supporting this service to our community.
