World Religions

May 18, 2018

Year 11 students  have been learning about World Religions. Recently, they were blessed with a visit from Mrs Tripdidas of Calcutta, India who spoke about Hinduism. Mrs Tripdidas was raised by the Loretto Sisters  (Irish Catholic Nuns) in the Convent and was taught Geography by Mother Theresa herself! She went on to teach Political Science and English. She gave a fascinating talk on Hinduism for our students.

Year 11 Outdoor Camp

May 17, 2018

Mr Lickfold’s Year 11 students got out into the fresh, open air last week, putting their skills into practice on their Outdoor Ed Camp. Students cooked meals, caught fish along the river and took the kayaks for a paddle, all while camping at the beautiful Nanga camp ground.

Helping Hand

May 16, 2018

Secondary students have been visiting their local libraries as part of ECU Enactus, a program providing assistance to local residents with computer problems. It’s a great opportunity for the students to meet members of our community and share their tech knowledge! We hear community members have been impressed with the kindness and helpfulness displayed by our students.

The Incite Awards

May 16, 2018

Finalists for the 27th Annual WAITTA INCITE Awards were announced on 13 April 2018, at the Innovation Excellence Lunch Forum & PitchFest.

Abydos, an app developed by ECU researchers and St Stephen’s School, is a finalist in the Most Transformative Impact on Education category. This app meets challenges faced when fractions are challenging to teach and to learn. Abydos is a serious game, however, blending Abydos into the classroom leads to serious fun with fractions. Adapting instantly to students’ strengths, it offers a genuine personalised learning pathway.

We have our fingers crossed for June, when the winners are announced!
