HEART FOR THE HOMELESS

St Stephen’s School has partnered with 98.5 Sonshine FM for their Heart for The Homeless Appeal this month to keep everyone warm on these cold winter nights. We are one of the drop-off points for any clean sleeping bags, blankets, toiletries and pillows that will go to those doing it tough. Do your bit and drop off at the Duncraig Campus from July 20 and at the Carramar Campus from July 27 until the end of the month.

Cross Country

July 2, 2020

This morning we held our 2020 Cross Country carnival with 288 students competing across the six year groups. In the perfect conditions there were a number of year group records broken, as well as the overall course record being beaten with a time of 13:24.73 by Nick Holmes (Alethea Year 11). First across the line for the girls was Crystal Edwards (Carana Year 11) with a time of 16:50.13.

The overall house results were as follows:

3rd: CARANA 1029 points 

2nd: ALETHEA 1249 points

1st: TIMAE 1276 points.

SPARKING SKILLS

Excited to expand their experience in electrical work, Year 9 and 10 students from Carramar and Duncraig recently attended the Try A Trade course at the College of Electrical Training. Students were given an introduction to domestic lighting systems and circuits, with the College commending students on their excellent attitude towards the course.

BURST OF BRIGHTNESS

Keen botanist and plant expert Rylan  Year 12) has set up his own native gardens in and around the Science Department with the help of his friend Gabby. Their hard work has resulted in a brighter, more vibrant space – now we can’t wait to watch the plants grow and flower!

REEF RESEARCH

June 25, 2020

Year 10 Marine Science students harnessed their improvisation skills to create their own ‘mock reef’ in the school grounds to practice their marine sampling techniques. Students used a transect line and quadrats to sample the area for abalone while weighing and measuring a hypothetical fisherman’s catch of abalone.
