Here are my Y7s testing the physical properties of slime and having lots of fun doing it!

We have just attended the Australian Mathematics Trust awards where Ethan Abraham (Year 7) received a High Achievers award for being in the top 0.3% in the Australian Maths Competition for his age in WA.
Nick Hodgskin (Year 12) was the WA winner of the inspiring student award for inspiring and supporting his peers in the learning and enjoyment of mathematics.
Congratulations to Nick and Ethan.

The Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) is a national not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics and algorithmics for students of all standards.
Three athletes were recognised as some of the best in the state at the recent WA State Athletics Championships! Congratulations to Hayden Windsor (Year 7) who achieved bronze in High Jump, Eloise Parsons (Year 9) who was awarded bronze in Pole Vault and Nicholas Holmes (Year 9) who took home a silver medal in the 2000m Steeplechase. Wow!
A stellar effort by the Year 7s saw success at the Year 7 Super Series Competition last week! 61 students competed in Interschool netball, soccer and basketball games with four wonderful Year 9 and 10 students volunteering to score and umpire. The Girls Basketball team placed third and the Boys Basketball team finished fourth, while the Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer and Girls Netball teams all made the semi-finals!
Year 7 and 8 students cross campus raised $538.00 for the TEAR Read-a-thon. We were one of only two schools in WA to pilot this Readathon for TEAR Australia. Well done to all the students, staff and parents who were involved in this fundraising initiative. Mrs Legg and a few of our students were interviewed by TEAR to provide feedback. Thank you all for supporting this cause.
Join our mission into the 30th season of FIRST®! Prepare for blast off, break out of your earthly constraints and go INTO ORBITSM. The 2018/2019 FIRST® LEGO® League season will transport your team into space, where you’ll explore, challenge, and innovate in the vast expanse of space.
Gather your crew and get ready to explore, challenge and innovate in the demanding and inspiring expanse we call space!
Do you have what it takes to go INTO ORBIT?
FIRST® LEGO® League challenges students to think like scientists and engineers. During the 2018/19 INTO ORBIT Season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under Core Values celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.
Are you ready for the Challenge?

Recently some Year 7 students went on an excursion to show them how perilous the life of a homeless person can be.
Immersion programs are unique learning experiences that encourage active citizenship via an experiential learning model. The learning is so profound that it aids students in understanding what it means to be part of the human community mindful of the journey of others, especially the most vulnerable.
The excursion started at Greenwood train station and took them to Wellington Square. There guide for the day was Darren.
Below is a short video made by the students.
Our students never cease to amaze us with their unique sporting skills!
Tahlia Papworth (Year 7) has placed second in the Open Women’s Canicross Competition, while her brother Jayden (Year 9) placed fifth in the Open Men’s Competition.
Canicross is a long-distance running sport requiring a little more skill than a typical cross country race, as each participant is harnessed to a running partner – a dog!
Congratulations to the dynamic duos.
