Coffee & Conversation

Transitioning into Secondary School can be a bit daunting for students and parents as their children move into the next stage of their schooling. We have an event coming up for parents of Year 7s to come and chat and see how they’re adapting in class.

This Friday (March 16) Duncraig Secondary will hold their first Coffee and Conversation for 2018 where Year 7 Coordinator Suzy Mettam will discuss the transition into Secondary in the Community Room from 8.30-9.30am. Attendance is free. Contact the School for more information.

Triumphant Return from Camp

The Year 7’s enjoyed their yearly camp and were blessed with perfect weather conditions.

Students and staff spent a glorious three days at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp. This place is a sanctuary in the suburbs, a place where the students could participate in unique and exciting outdoor activities.

What a wonderful experience.

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Next week Year 7 and 9 students will bring home an information booklet about the National Assessment Program – Numeracy and Literacy. This contains details of the assessment program and how you can support your child. Please ask your child to hunt around in their school bag so this information does not get lost! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Year 7 ‘Getting to Know You’ Day

Today, the new Year 7 cohort for 2018 met with fellow students, and staff. This is the first time they been together on campus for the first time!

Mr Bruce Titlestad, Dr Liz Criddle, Mrs Tracey Gray, Mr Richard Deck and Mrs Suzy Mettam were there to greet families as they arrived.

After activities in their new homerooms the students went off to explore the campus.

Budding Biologist go on a bush walk!

Miss Ross’s year 7 biologists went to investigate a bushland ecosystem. We identified different species, adaptations found in native Australian plants and saw the impact humans have on our environment.

Novice Debating

June 20, 2017

This term enthusiastic Year 6 and 7 debaters from The Duncraig campus have been fine tuning their skills at a workshop on Tuesday afternoons and competing against each other throughout the term. The grand final between Carramar and Duncraig takes place on the 29th.

Year 7 Science

The Year 7s have been learning about different types of forces in Science, including electrostatic force!

Year 7 – Bark and Read

Taking advantage of the weather the Year 7’s sat on the grass in the quad for their reading class.

They had a little visitor, a junior reading dog by the name of Koda.

Koda headed straight for the shoe laces.
