The Physics of Sound Energy

October 23, 2019

Mr Stefan Walter was a guest speaker in Mrs Aldous year 8 Science class today, to demonstrate the Physics of Sound with his electric guitar, carrot clarinet or ‘Clarot’ and real clarinet. We also looked at the difference between electric and my acoustic guitar. The students had lots of questions and one of the students Sam even demonstrated his great guitar abilities playing ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ by Guns and Roses.

St Stephen’s Global will be launching the 2020 Lou Morrison Kimberley Tour for current Year 8s and 9s in the next few weeks. Students will learn about Australian indigenous culture in rarely-accessed traditional lands. The group will also have the opportunity to experience some of the amazing beauty of the rugged Kimberley region as they travel from Broome to Kununurra. The tour will run in July 2020.

Parents and students will be invited at attend Information Evenings at both campuses in late October and expressions of interest will close soon after. Email mark.fielding@ststephens.wa.edu.au to register your interest now.

COMMUNITY CAMPOUT

September 26, 2019

Although the evening temperature dropped below zero, the sun was shining and smiles were all around as more than 200 people enjoyed the inaugural Community Campout at The Kaadadjan Centre over the weekend. Families enjoyed quality time playing games, using the sports equipment, cooking damper over the fire, making their own Aboriginal-inspired artwork and mining for choc chips with Alcoa. There were lots of laughs around the campfires and the children enjoyed an outdoor movie under the stars. What a wonderful time!

The Kaadadjan Centre will soon open for private bookings for our families, staff and alumni. Keep and eye out for more information.
