SKILLS ON SHOW
September 23, 2019Our VET students have been doing us proud in recent weeks, showcasing their skills among industry professionals.
Year 12 Amelia Hodder has been attending a girls only Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship class for her External VET. The class was recently presented with a WA Training Award for Female Participation in the Electrical Industry, with lots of interest from employers at the event.
The annual Hospitality Group Training Showcase also saw school-based apprentice Year 12 Abi Kemp join full-time apprentice chefs to produce a five-course fine dining meal for 300 people. Executive Chef for the night was alumni Zac Tholen.
So great to see St Stephen’s students making their mark.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
September 19, 2019St Stephen’s School Lakeside Joondalup Community Food Cart Run
September 19, 2019We are seeking interested families to participate in the School’s new community service. Once a week we visit the cafes at Lakeside Joondalup to collect their leftover produce at the conclusion of trade. This food is then collected by UnitingCare West Merriwa and distributed to families and schools in the northern suburbs that are currently experiencing hardship.
We share the roster along with our Carramar Primary and Secondary teachers and students, Rotary-our cart sponsors, and UnitingCare West. Your commitment is totally up to you; once a month, twice a month or even once every three months, whatever you wish. The run commences at 4.45pm and concludes at 5.30pm.
If you are interested in participating as a family or even with friends, please contact me on 0429 153 912 or email me volunteers@ststephens.wa.edu.au

HOME RUN
September 19, 2019Year 8 student Fletcher Sexton and his baseball team, the Perth Northern Metros, have certainly reached great heights in 2019! After a successful year in the domestic league, the team were crowned National Champions and travelled to California recently to represent Australia in the Intermediate League World Series. Although they didn’t finish top of the table Fletcher had the trip of a lifetime, exploring new parts of the world and even getting to meet some famous baseball players.
Year 12 Marketing Expo #2
September 18, 2019As a part of the Certificate IV in Business, teams of year 12 students recently participated in a Marketing Expo hosted in Carana House Forum. This Expo required students to identify an existing product, and then remarket it with a range of marketing strategies such as new branding and product features, and a variety of promotional tools and pricing structures. Expo visitors, which included students, teachers, parents and members of St Stephen’s Executive, were able to question each of the student teams about their marketing ideas and provide them with feedback. Students will use this feedback to write a “report to management” about the success of their marketing efforts as one of the final tasks they complete in the Certificate course.
