Support South Africa Service Tour

January 25, 2019

What could be more Australian than heading down to Bunnings for a sausage in a bun! The South Africa Service Tour group will be manning the BBQs at Joondalup Bunnings on Australia Day to raise funds for their upcoming tour so pop by, grab a bun and say Hi!

Maybe it’s time for a new pair of shoes? The Tour group are also holding a ‘Boot Drive’ – collecting pre-loved boots and sneakers to donate to the children of South Africa. If you’re ready to part with your old kicks, keep an eye out for collection details to come.

Finally, Year 10 student Emma Cooke has put together a special night of live music, activities and family fun to raise funds for homeless people and orphaned children in South Africa on February 9. Tickets are $10. Call Lisa on 0437 282 212 or email lisa32@bigpond.com for more info.

Cambodia (Raw Impact) Service Tour Returns

January 21, 2019

A group of our 2019 Year 12s and staff recently returned from just under two weeks on the St Stephen’s Global Cambodia tour where they worked with RAW Impact to build a new home for a local family of eight in need. The trip included lots of hard work, tree-planting, a sleep out, some interesting characters, heart-warming stories, visits to NGOs and historic places.

BIENVENUE!

January 15, 2019

As part of our languages program, Duncraig will welcome a group of French exchange students on campus this February, giving our students and their visitors the chance to practise their language skills first-hand.

Due to the popularity of the program, there are still a few French students needing accommodation with host families. If you might be interested in welcoming one of the exchange students into your home between February 10 and 23, please contact Head of English & Languages Mr Howie Jakeway at howie.jakeway@ststephens.wa.edu.au.

STUDENT VOICE

November 30, 2018

This year, students have been meeting regularly with key personnel including Principal Mrs Donella Beare to help St Stephen’s better understand their school experience and to assist us in guiding pragmatic and impactful change.

By creating avenues for student voice to be heard, we seek to cultivate an environment in which student perspective not only holds nominal value, but can authentically shape policy, environment and pedagogy.

Validating that voice through action reinforces the learning for these students that their viewpoints matter and encourages them to be a voice for change beyond their years at St Stephen’s School.

SCIENCE TALK

November 29, 2018

There was a flurry of excitement yesterday as Year 8 and 9 Science students proudly displayed research projects they have been working on for much of the year. It was science communication at its best as parents and friends listened intently while the students explained their chosen research subjects and findings, with topics ranging from Plants under Radiation and electro magnetics to wash and wear makeup and looking beyond the brands.
