Calling Our Community
June 5, 2018If you haven’t already had the pleasure – meet Betty (pictured below with our lovely D&T Teacher Mr Matt Kirby). Betty is part of the School’s Service Learning project which will see the beloved old caravan given a makeover and transformed into a mobile food service to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Students have spent time fixing the ol’ gal up, along with help from our community and volunteers. Betty is at the stage where she will soon be fitted with a whole new set of cabinetry courtesy of Kitchen Craftsman. Yet before the Kitchen Craftsman team come in, we have to do some behind-the-scenes work and we need your help!
We’re putting the call out to our community to see if anyone might be interested in helping out with donating any of the below items to get Betty one step closer to hitting the road with the School’s Service Learning programs.

ACC Cross Country
June 1, 2018Facing some challenging weather conditions, the Cross Country runners battled through to place seventh out of 75 schools at the ACC Cross Country yesterday! Special mentions go to Rachael Edwards (Year 12) who placed fourth in the Under 19 Girls and Remy Rowse (Year 9) who achieved the bronze position in the Under 13 Girls race.

LOGO COLLABORATION EXTEND
June 1, 2018In light of many students being caught up with exams, camps and the like over recent weeks, we have decided to extend the House Logo redesign period until the end of the term (June 29).
This will give students more time to work on their collaboration pieces to ensure their house gets the best new redesign.
We can’t wait to see your ideas!
Design & Tech Champs!
June 1, 2018The Design and Tech department welcomed the Year 5 students into their space this week and helped immeasurably with a sustainability project that they are working on. Staff happily gave their time and resources to our children (and adults). We’re blown away by their kindness and generosity. These workshop experiences will definitely be a highlight for so many of our students – and us.

Mass and Weight
June 1, 2018Today my Y7s were investigating the difference between mass and weight. They could work out that gravity was approximately 10m/s/s and then calculated their own weights on all the planets of our solar system. Out of this world!!

Year 10 Biblical Studies

Year 10 Biblical Studies students have been studying the structure and books of the Bible. The main task was to create a Bible picture storybook. The year 10s had a great opportunity to share their story books with year 1 and year 4 students. A fantastic time was spent exploring the Bible and the primary school students provided the Year 10s with some valuable critical feedback.

Fighting Hunger Together
June 1, 2018
Each fortnight, St Stephen’s School students and staff take two trips into the city to volunteer for the UnitingCare West Food Rescue. After our volunteers collect food from participating cafes around the city, it is distributed to feed members of six UnitingCare West Services such as Tranby Centre each night. Aligning with the School’s motto to ‘Serve God, Serve One Another’, our whole School community are on the roster for the Food Rescue runs, with Principal Mrs Donella Beare recently teaming up with Service Learning Coordinator Donna Lund to gather the goods. UnitingCare West Food Rescue feeds around 11,500 people experiencing homelessness each week.
Robocopter Drop

The Year 7s have been learning about mass, weight, gravity, air resistance and terminal velocity in Science this term. The class are experimenting with different variables and how these affect the flight time of their robocopters.

Meningococcal Immunisations Year 10
May 31, 2018
Year 10 Meningococcal immunisations will be held in Cousins Hall on Thursday 7th of June. Students have been requested to have a good breakfast and something to drink before coming to school. Students have also been instructed to wear sports uniform for easy access to the upper arm.
