We have four talented Visual Arts students this year who have entries in Northern Perspectives.

Such an achievement. Well done to all.

Community Freezer

February 9, 2018

We are really excited to continue with our initiative of the school community freezer. It is located in the Get Well Room in the Primary School Office. The purpose of this freezer is to support families from Pre-Kindy to Year 12 at SSS Duncraig with a home cooked meal when they are going through a very difficult family situation.

If you would like to contribute to this freezer by cooking a meal we would greatly appreciate it. We are looking for simple, nutritious meals that are both family and freezer friendly. These include meat and vegetable based casseroles, lasagnes, hearty soups and mild curries. Please do not use any nut or nut products. Please include all components of the meal e.g. “Casserole with rice” to make it as easy as possible for the families receiving the meals.

Secondary Swimming Carnival 2018

February 8, 2018

The 2018 swimming carnival was a great success with an excellent level of participation in so many events across all ages and genders. The weather was looking very ordinary first thing in the morning but the cloud cover meant that student’s weren’t getting overheated between events. Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, staff and students for an excellent effort on the day to deliver a fun carnival.

Below are a few snapshots from the day.

CALLING ALL DEBATERS!

February 6, 2018

A meeting for all students interested in representing the school in the Western Australia Debating League will be held in A7 at lunchtime on the 15th February. Students who have no experience of public speaking or debating are particularly welcome, as are those who have previously represented the school in previous years. Coaching for all teams will be provided by the school. Public speaking encourages critical thinking, fosters engagement with global issues, and equips students with lifelong skills and the confidence to pursue their potential. WADL aims to do this by ensuring all WA school students have access to challenging debating competitions, high quality resources, and purpose-built development opportunities. Involvement in WADL debates is a fun and challenging way of representing the school. Please come to the meeting at lunchtime on the 15th February to find out more. I look forward to seeing you there.
