As you may have heard, St Stephen’s has been selected to host the First Lego League tournament on Saturday November 4. This is a dynamic day of coding, robotics, problem solving and collaboration among teams of young people trying to solve some pretty exciting and complex challenges.
Pictured below is the Duncraig Secondary team in action under the direction of Mr Corcoran.
Students in Primary were invited to a Sausage Sizzle at lunchtime.
The sizzle was a fund-raising event for the South Africa tour coordinated by Mr Osbourne.
Judging by the long queues it was a lip-licking success.

Over the second half of last term, a small group of students from Duncraig and Carramar have been participating in a pilot program from Western Australian Charity Direct, led by Perth Wildcats captain, Damian Martin.
WA Charity Direct is a unique charitable organisation that focuses solely on assisting the people of Western Australia. WA Charity Direct was established in 2004 and in that time has made a significant difference to the lives of many within the community.
The following Duncraig students will be distributing an amazing $25 000 to needy individuals and a start-up charity. Please take the time to ask them about their process and involvement.

Mrs Mills Year 8’s were joined by Tucker today in their reading lesson. It was his first day at school but he is no stranger to fame Tucker has appeared in an RAC television commercial, We’ll do the right thing, where he is covered in yellow paint!
Dogs can be clever creatures: many respond to a variety of commands, and some perform fun tricks, but even the cleverest canines can’t read. Instead they are a loving listeners.
I think we will be seeing a lot more of Tucker over the coming term.

National Skills Week shines a spotlight on Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system. It seeks to improve the standing of vocational education industry while highlighting the talents, diversity, benefits and career pathways associated with VET. The week celebrates the achievements of practical learners, focusing on the benefits of skills and training. The recent fund-raising event, Akwaaba, was a tremendous success with a fantastic attendance.
Parents and students enjoyed the drumming workshop and delicious barbeque.
Mr Clay Osbourne was the coordinator of this event and had this to say “Well done to everyone for being proactive and helping out at the Drumming night tonight. You really came together as a team tonight. Your initiative and willingness to get involved was amazing. Thank you! Thank you to all the parents and everyone who purchased tickets. Your contributions will go toward our service initiates and greatly benefit children in South Africa.”

Our generous an energized student’s in Timae have raised $4,232.65 for the Salvation Army and the Beyond the Classroom campaign.
Student’s decided to run a Lap-A-Thon and asked family and friends to support the event by sponsoring them.

Parking and overall traffic congestion around schools is an ongoing issue and is further exacerbated with vehicles parking in contradiction to parking signs, on footpaths or in dangerous locations such as on bends at intersections. So to minimise this issue below are a few suggestions to ease stress during these periods:

A reminder that the student bike rakes have been relocated.
One set is next to the secondary basketball courts near Timae House, the others adjacent to the Alethea House. The new locations can be viewed on the attached map. Duncraig Bike Racks 2017
Students can access the bike racks via Doveridge Drive, Hepburn Road or the cycle path on the eastern side of the campus. When on school grounds it is an expectation that students dismount, and walk their bikes to the racks. Please remind your sons and daughters that it is expected that all student bikes are secured using a lock when on campus.
