Year 9 and 10 cross-campus students on the Lou Morrison Kimberley Tour spent time at Indigenous community schools, learning about the Indigenous culture and language, while running sport events and discos.

Below are a few snaps from the trip.

Hurdling No Barrier

June 26, 2018

Year 10 students were left a little star struck after Commonwealth Games athletes Brianna Beahan and Ian Dewhurst dropped by to share some track tips.

The hurdling workshop helped students refine their skills and gain confidence in what can be a tricky sport. What better way to start practicing for next term’s Athletics Carnival than with the nation’s best!

Exceptional Brush Work

June 26, 2018

In an exciting time for our Art Department, three St Stephen’s students have been selected to have their artworks showcased in the esteemed St George’s Art Exhibition.

16th annual exhibition of works by senior art students from Western Australian schools, displayed in Perth’s Gothic Revival Cathedral.

St George’s Art has become a premier annual event in art education in Western Australia, attracting schools from all sectors.  Participation in this exhibition provides an outstanding opportunity for schools to present work by students in Years 10, 11 and 12, in the unique setting of St George’s Cathedral.

Congratulations to the following students:

Bree Elliott – Year 10
Emi Radziwilska-Melzacka – Year 12
Courtney Shipham – Year 12

Try’A Trade

June 12, 2018

This week some of our Year 10 and Year 9 students are at Try’A Trade at the Clarkson campus of NMetro Tafe. Over 3 days they will have a go at plastering, tiling and bricklaying.

This state-of-the-art facility is the main campus for trades training in Perth’s northern corridor.

Try’a Trade is a day where students can try a number of trades and learn more about the many career options the industry provides. Students might be thinking of a career in the trades or maybe still figuring out what job pathway they might like to pursue. Either way, Try’a Trade is the perfect way to try a whole range of options all in the same day.

The best part about Try’a Trade is that it’s really hands on. Students get the chance to drill, hammer, and plaster while learning from real tradespeople.

Year 10 Biblical Studies

June 1, 2018

Year 10 Biblical Studies students have been studying the structure and books of the Bible. The main task was to create a Bible picture storybook. The year 10s had a great opportunity to share their story books with year 1 and year 4 students. A fantastic time was spent exploring the Bible and the primary school students provided the Year 10s with some valuable critical feedback.
