RAC bstreetsmart Event

April 6, 2018

Yesterday Year 10 students went on an excursion to Perth Arena for the RAC bstreetsmart event.

RAC has been hosting bstreetsmart in Western Australia since 2012, and in this time almost 40,000 secondary school students have attended.

RAC bstreetsmart features a crash scene re-enactment attended by the emergency services, just as it would occur at a real crash site. The students also have the opportunity to listen to speakers who have been directly impacted by road trauma and talk with emergency services personnel.

The event was organised by Cathy Trethowen, Vet/Careers/VET Liaison Officer.

“Impeccably organised and executed, being a staff member on this excursion was a breeze and I was really proud of the tens for the way they behaved and represented the school.” – Bennet Andrews, Deputy Head of Secondary (Care).

Photos include a photo of students with  Byron Gallyer alumni Class of 2015 who was a Red Frog volunteer at the event.

Battle Royal

November 30, 2017

Ms Ntoumenopoulos lead her Year 10 class into battle today, a Battle of the Sexes and we are not talking Billie Jean King versus Bobby Riggs. Oh no, this was fiercer, it was boys against girls.

After a pep talk they hit the basketball courts, followed by a stint on the oval and finally the creme-de-la-creme  hair braiding, Jenga, and a general knowledge quiz back in the classroom.

Jenga has never been played with so much rivalry and tension.

Everyone was a winner!

For with God nothing shall be impossible.” – Luke 1:37

Year 10 LIFT Week: Entrepreneurship and Business

September 20, 2017

The Year 10 Entrepreneurship and Business LIFT week participants spent two days working on innovative business ideas aided by industry mentors, start-up specialists and Spacecubed staff. Spacecubed is a start up ecosystem spread over two buildings in the Perth CBD. The students pitched their ideas to a team of judges from industry and gained some wonderful experience in thinking in a blue sky business environment. Congratulations to our winning team with their pitch of solar panel blinds!
