October 17, 2017

Our generous an energized student’s in Timae have raised $4,232.65 for the Salvation Army and the Beyond the Classroom campaign.

Importance of Road Safety

October 13, 2017

Parking and overall traffic congestion around schools is an ongoing issue and is further exacerbated with vehicles parking in contradiction to parking signs, on footpaths or in dangerous locations such as on bends at intersections.  So to minimise this issue below are a few suggestions to ease stress during these periods:

  • Organise with your child to meet in a pre-arranged location away from the busier areas after school.
  • Tell your child/ren that you will arrive a little bit later after the final bell and advise them to wait within the school grounds until you get there.
  • Use the Kiss and Drive if there is one at the school and ensure you use it appropriately.  This means if your child is not there, drive around until you see your child waiting.
  • Park further away and walk to meet your child.

Thank you for being considerate of our students and the communities safety.

Reminder – New location for the Student Bike Racks

October 13, 2017

A reminder that the student bike rakes have been relocated.

One set is next to the secondary basketball courts near Timae House, the others adjacent to the Alethea House. The new locations can be viewed on the attached map.  Duncraig Bike Racks 2017

Students can access the bike racks via Doveridge Drive, Hepburn Road or the cycle path on the eastern side of the campus. When on school grounds it is an expectation that students dismount, and walk their bikes to the racks. Please remind your sons and daughters that it is expected that all student bikes are secured using a lock when on campus.

Community Food Freezer

October 13, 2017

Located in the Get Well Room in the Primary School. The purpose of this freezer is to support families from Pre-Kindy to Year 12 at SSS Duncraig with a home cooked meal when they are going through a very difficult family situation.

If you would like to contribute to this freezer by cooking a meal we would greatly appreciate it. We are looking for simple, nutritious meals that are both family and freezer friendly. These include meat and vegetable based casseroles, lasagnes, hearty soups and mild curries. Please do not use any nut or nut products. Please include all components of the meal e.g.

Tin foil containers and labels available next to the freezer.  Bring the frozen meal to school and place in the freezer for another family to enjoy!

Thank you for your support.

Congratulations to our Global Programs Team on winning the 2017 NGS Super Scholarship Award two years in a row. The scholarship is awarded to schools involved in exemplary and innovative programs that enhances student learning. Our partnership with Yiyili and Purnululu Indigenous Schools in the Kimberley was judged as an excellent example of this.

Well done!

Schools are advised that 2017 Year 12 students will be able to access their results online at https://www.wace.wa.edu.au on Tuesday, 19 December 2017.

To log on, students will need their student number and other personal identification information. It is advisable that students provide an alternate email address via the student portal. This is to avoid issues where school email accounts close prior to the release of results.

Students who experience technical difficulties in accessing their information need to contact the Authority at wacehelp@scsa.wa.edu.au [monitored from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 8:00am to 5:00pm].

Schools are reminded that the Authority may need to speak with the specified contact person early in January should students question the results reported by schools to the Authority.

Students will receive their folios of achievement (i.e. WACE, WASSA and ATAR course report) during January 2018.

Students who are seeking details relating to university admission (including their ATAR) are advised to contact the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre.

New Ceramic Wall Mural in the Quad

October 11, 2017

Please take the time to look at the wonderful mural that has been applied to the wall in the Quad.

Visual Art Students from Year 10, class of 2017, worked in groups with Mr Elsing and Ms Davenhall, to depict the four episodes of the life of St Stephen, with designs influenced by the Italian Futurists:

  1. St. Stephen feeding the widows and orphans
  2. St. Stephen preaching the gospel with signs and wonders
  3. St. Stephen being arrested
  4. St. Stephen stoned to death and seeing heaven opened for him.

St. Stephen’s life was one that embodies our school motto – Serve God, Serve One Another.

Congratulations to all involved.

“Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” – Isaiah 49:16
